Hi Mary!
Well, I registered for school today. I had a counseling appointment and turns out I have all but 4 classes needed for the first level of certification as a Medical Assistant. I’m going to take all 4 classes Spring semester, do 6 weeks of some sort of training work in the summer and be able to start working right afterward. Sooner than I thought!
I’ll probably get a part time job with a doctor over here and take the rest of the courses to get the AAS Degree in Medical Assisting II. That will take another year or so I think.
The plan is to work for 1 doctor or medical facility while we‘re still here for the experience and job history. I’ve been a homemaker and chocolatier for so long I don’t know how employable I am. We’ll see if one of the docs associated with my husband’s school will hire me. After Joe retires in 2015 I’ll be able to go to work in California - hopefully.
