      • Hi Lorilyn,

        Thanks for the comment.

Missing them when they are gone is tough - but that is something that you do get used to in time.  Knowing my son was in the states during that time was helpful, just like him being away at college or something.  The most difficult thing was the first overseas deployment—right after he finished boot camp and A school - within a week or so, he was headed to Bagdad - I was shocked that he was going there so quickly.  That was scary - not so much the missing him, but actual fear that he would be killed or injured.   It was through a Bible Study that I was doing at the time that I learned how to control my emotions, my mind and my thoughts and when I got control of those things - God gave me a complete sense of peace about it.  My faith grew alot that year.   This time is definitely easier as I know what to expect and know what I need to do to keep my thinking and emotions under control.

Keep me posted on your daughter and when she leaves.  I will definitely be praying for you.

        Tracie

      • Hi, My daughter isn’t quite there, yet. She recently joined the Air Force Guard and is leaving for boot camp in a few weeks. It’s no where near what you may be dealing with, but it’s an emotional thing to have a child enter the military and not see them for an extended period of time. She’ll be gone for about eight months :(
I have no idea what to expect, but who really does.
        Thanks for the listening ear.
        Lorilyn
