I’m late in getting this out. How is everyone doing? Did the Labor Day Weekend throw any curve balls into our plans? We had a lot of things going on this weekend so meal planning got a bit skewed. But, I try and have prepared salads marinating in the fridge and cut up leftover meats for protein available. This way if I come into the house really hungry I can grab something quickly and not make bad choices.

What are some of the strategies you‘re implementing?

        • I am traveling this week for work. It can be dangerous to eat out the entire time so I went to the grocery store and bought fruit, yogurt, carrots and celery all pre cut. I also bought some PB for my apples. This should help cut down on opportunities for bad food!

        • I find that my weakness is late night munchies.  I usually don’t go to bed untill midnight.  I crave “something” to eat.  A lot of times I want something salty/crunchy-which is chips.  Or I want something sweet/chocolate like peanut m@m’s.  I know I should eat a piece of fruit-“natures sweetner“, but I have eaten plenty of fruit throught the day!  I try to buy the individual chips so I only eat the serving rather then 1/2 of the bag.  I also try fig newton cookies for my sweetness, or dried apricots if I have them.  Labor day, I forced myself to talk more, and to eat slow.  I really tried to watch my portion control.  It is a challenge when you are eating away from home!

        • Well, I’m pretty sure I didn’t GAIN any weight this week!  I went to the farmer’s market yesterday and bought lots of veggies.  I like to make a sort of a ratatouille with onions, squash, sweet yellow peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, olive oil and a little garlic.  Also bought some grapes, nectarines, and pluots.

        • You Ladies are doing great! Thanks for being my inspiration! So far I have last two pounds. Not much, but it’s hormone time!!

Yesterday’s lesson was: Hormones + pizza party for my nephew= Disastor. Not to worry, I am back on track. What is different with my weight loss now is I don’t beat myself up over it. I adhere to the 90/10 rule. As long as you eat healthy 90 percent of the time, you can have fun with your diet 10 percent.

Right now I am pursuing my certification in holistic nutrition and for the first time, I am really enjoying food in the sense that I am not at war with it. I will start posting things I learn in school so that you all can benefit. It is truely an amazing exerience!

Keep up all of the great work Everyone!!

        • Max, I’d love to read your posts. I’ve been a student of nutrition for over 20 years - reading all I can get my hands on. It’s a wonderful science. I’m looking forward to hearing all the current news from your classes.

And, 2 pounds is fantastic. Also the 90/10 rule - you’ve got the right attitude.

Today I will eat a lot of vegetables. Not too hard for me - I love veggies. But I woke up feeling a little bloated today. Maybe too much salt yesterday.

I started my day with whole wheat toast spread with some mashed avocado. Mid morning I’ll grab some protein or I’ll boil some edamame for lunch. I’ve already got some cooked veggies in the fridge for the day. We‘re probably going to a little Italian place this evening so I want to save some calories for a slice of pizza and a salad for dinner.

        • I have been doing great with my running every night or in the morning. I am out the door by 7:30 to drop off daughter at school then to work by 9.  I have not jumped on the scale yet this week-but I will do it Sunday after church..

Hope everyone has a great day!

        • Cynthia,

You would love this program. The founder is a chocolatier! One of our lectures was on the importance of chocolate. I have noticed this as an up and coming food trend. The key is to eat high quality dark chocolate in small amounts. Another chocolate trend I have noticed is cacao beans with a little agave. Cacao beans are super high in flavanoids and antioxidants. Atheletes are supposedly starting to add cacao beans to their diet. I thought that it was interesting.Hope that this will boosts your business!!

What is interesting is the marketing of cacao beans to triatheletes, ie Maui marathon and the Ironman on the Big Island.

          Mary

        • Hey ladies, I am back.  I had a good vacation with my brother in Las Vegas and yes I was off with my eating.  I did buy a flourless cake and a Vegan Cake and boy they are sooooooo good.  I started back with my walking this morning but was informed today of a new case for me starting tomorrow morning so now I have to adjust my exercise morning routine.  I did shed 3 pounds but it is right back on from my Vegas trip so I have to double work now and I will.  Thanks for all the encouragments and inspirations.  WE CAN DO IT LADIES.
