      Luke 2:22-40

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.

Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah of the Lord.  He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.”  The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him;and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted(and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer.  And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem.  When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.

The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

        • In the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Dear Lord, thank you for yesterday (Sat 12/27/08).  It was sunny in Utah.  How great to see the sun shed its light over the snow and the earth.  Thank you again for family and friends, the living as well as the dead and the dying.  They are a fabric of our lives and let me not forget that.  Thank you for creating and giving lives to those who were born yesterday and today (especially Cherri aka AFRIDIGIDIVA and Dense4).  I did much of nothing other than the usual things.  I don’t think I cross anyone, I did not gossip or had any kind of ill thoughts.  But just in case let me cover all my basis, if I do, enlighten me and forgive me and teach me.

As we enter in this Holy season, the Octave of Christmas, help me to still remain in the joy of your Holy birth.  Let me sing “How great thou art” with the right voice.

I send you all the prayers that other asked me to pray for them, esp. Cindy Rhudy aka coachmombabe for her speech today.  Holy Spirit, please guide her as what need to be said and also what need to be heard, penetrate into the heart of her audiences.

I will talk to you more when I dose off.  Good night, Lord.

        • Heavenly Father, thank you for this day.  Your gift of a brand new mercy with each new morning is more than i understand, so search my heart, for i don’t know how to rightly express the gratitude i feel.  The indescribable gift of Your Son, our saviour, Jesus the Christ is our only salvation, and with all i am, i thank You for that sacrifice.

Jesus, You gave up so much to be with us, and experience life through our experiences.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  i don’t understand why, but i am grateful that you did it anyway.  when i falter, i look to Your example to help me get back up again, and when i can’t do it, i take Your Hand to lift me to the place where You would have me be.  Only You know how many times i’ve fallen, and only You have been there to pick me back up EVERY time.  My heart is overwhelmed with the joy i have for being Your little sister.

Holy Spirit, thank You for Your guidance and for interpreting my groans when words fail.  i couldn’t do any of this without You, and i recognize that with humility and joy.  i love how Your still, small voice directs my movements or stops me from moving.  i also love how you honor this vessel with speaking through it; it is but dust, but you inhabit it anyway.  i am overjoyed when i can point others to You when they try to heap praise on my shoulders, because i recognize that without You i couldn’t do what i do.

i lift my family to You, i lift my sisters to You, i lift my co-workers to You, i lift all that concerns me to You, because the scriptures teach us that You perfect all that concerns us.  Lord, i thank You for this privilege and i thank You for this precious time.

Sealed by Your Precious Blood Jesus, and presented in Your Name.  Amen.
