      Hi all!
I have taken over my daughters slowski computer for a few while mine is down and out. My hubz has till the end of the week before I buy a new one to get mine fixed. Ok so.....

I have just completed a 21 day challenge on the Fabbers against Flab on sparkpeople.com. That challenge was to breathe properly and do breathing exercises daily 3 times. By focusing on this I find that my posture has been better, my ability to exercise is better since I’m not gasping for air, and my stomach muscles are actually starting to listen to me and go in vs hanging out a la muffin top style.

Our new challenge on SP just started today and I am focusing on eating 4 veggies and 3 fruits a day. I decided on this since I am into day 10 of being meatless with Melissabelle (is she back or is Shady still taking over for her?). Going meatless has made me notice some things. 1. I don’t eat enough fruits n veggies and 2. I am eating to much wheat.
I am thinking about doing a wheat challenge AFTER the holidays since I am not willing to attempt before hand. From what I have read it is not that easy. So I am not going to cut it out completely. Since I am journaling my food on sparkpeople.com I am more aware of where my food intake is coming from. I think I will challenge my self to have 1 meal and snack a day completely wheatless but we’ll see.

I am still still pop free, obviously my electronic time has been cut down since my lappy is broke, and YES I am BEAUTIFUL still!

Do you have any challenges you are working on? If so how are you doing? And if not are there any you want to work on?
If you have any suggestions on getting the fruit/veggie challenge done or any recipes please let me know.
Also if you have any ideas on going wheatless I would like to hear it.

      Go ahead and challenge yourself!

        • I think I am looking to cut out gluten.... I have pretty much switched all else to wheat products vs white.

What I have read about it can cause a lot of problems.... my daughters unexplained acne, my hubz body pain and my sinus issues. Going gluten free can be challenging thats why I am still reading, plotting and planning. But will need help with recipes, support and advice.

        • My challenge starting today is drinking more water...not a certain amount but more than what I’m doing.  Also...I’m going to do some kind of exercise daily.  If I can’t walk...then I better do some exercises in the house.

And I found me some “cute, nice fitting exercise pants” yesterday at Ross...for $6.99.  I“m so excited...and I’m going back today to buy some more.  I will be exercising again....

Special K makes little protien powder paks to add to water..... kinda like killing 2 birds with 1 stone....

        • Hi Vikki....

I’m drinking water everyday...the exercise hasn’t be the best..sine we’ve had rain and storms.  I might try to go walk tonight if Ben will walk with me.

        • I just completed a 21 day challenge to exercise every day. Now I’m debating whether to give myself one day off or get on the treadmill for a walk this morning. My legs say - off. But I put on a pair of shorts this morning that I haven’t been able to wear and they buttoned and zipped so my mind says - treadmill.

        • I opted for the treadmill. I “treated” myself to a 50 minute slower than usual walk just to keep the momentum going and get the blood flowing.

        • You ladies are such a wonderful inspiration to me. Vikki, let me know when you are ready for the gluten challenge. I am starting to cut down on gluten now since I think it makes me feel bloated and icky. I eat the healthy wheat products too.

My tip for eating more veggies is to add a serving of fruit to my breakfast and have it for a snack along with almonds. My most favorite tip is to treat myself like I am eating at a restaurant and start my lunch and diner with either a salad with homeade low fat dressing or a bowl of homeade vegtable soup. I just started this and I love it since I don’t feel like I need to eat much of the main entree.

Thanks again for the inspiration. Good luck on all of your challenges, ladies.

        • Way to go Cynthia.....I’m very proud of you.
Vikki....I’m still in “awe” of you losing the weight you have.  Very proud of you too.

Lini...I’m with you.  I am still trying to get my act together.

Now my new dilemma is...mentally I’m there...ready to workout...but my body won’t let me. I’ve now hurt my back...thanks to Jack the dog....and my stomach has been out of whack the past week. I’m trying to get my system back in working order and my back to improve.

I’m off today (MLJ Day)and the weather is going to be nice today.  At some point in my day and if it kills my back...I’m going to go walking.  Maybe it will help my back.

I promise you all...when I get myself straightened out...physically....I’m going to shed this weight, eat healthier....take my Juice Plus faithfully, and get into shape.  I am so ready for spring now!!!!estatic

        • Maryclark, even though you are “only walking” don’t skimp on the stretching beforehand and after(hamstrings, calves and thighs at least).  Not only will this help your back today, but the benefit will continue when you do it as part of your routine.

        • I am so inspired by all your comments. Cynthia great job on your 21 days of exercise. Sometimes a slow leisurely stroll is just as good exercise for your soul so stroll away:)
Linni you don’t have to do a health type challenge. It can be anything. An example was I cut down on my electronic time .... Tv and such for 21 days. Donna aka47 challenged us with a quote to realize we were beautiful and to tell ourselves daily. So really anything....
Max I’m gonna try more veggies in themorning... Thx! Also let’s plan 21 days of gluten free starting feb 1st. Will that work?

        • Thanks Kalic0 for the advice.  I do stretch...in fact I probably do more stretching than most people.  Before my feet even hit the floor...I’m stretching.  In fact I will stretch throughout my entire day......it’s just something I do.

My back is still not 100% but it is better!  I’m convinced my moving around today helped it a lot.  And I ended my day with a nice soak in the whirlpool...along with a nice glass of wine.  I’m about to pop some more Advil...which I really do hate taking...it’s just not good for me...but it helps at the moment...and then off to bed.

In the morning.....it will either be my first visit back to the Family Y or my Biggest Loser Cardio DVD at home.  Wonder what it will be??????

        • Vikki.....just slap me!! I did neither!  I guess I over did it yesterday and my back is not feeling so great. I did wake up to go to the Y but I woke up with a horrible headache.  It is going to be a pretty nice day today...so when I get home I am planning to go for a walk.

        • LOL! I would never dream of slapping you.... Have you considered doing yoga? I’m not talking the stressful hot yoga but the easy going one?
With all that you have gone thru recently your body is still in stress and needs an outlet.
For me stress caused me to be a bit more careless with my body without realizing it and yoga is a great way to help. I’ve also thought about trying ti chi (sp?) but just have not done it yet.

        • No I have not tried Yoga...and you are right....I believe that is what I need.  I guess my body is still in shock so to speak and I am denying it.  Mentally though I really do want to get out and exercise.  It is so nice outside today and I’m stuck indoors.  I am going to try to go walk when I get home.

I have a Pilates DVD at home that I’ve never even opened...imagine that!!! Maybe I will give it a go and see if I can stretch and do whatever all this excess stress that I must have.

I need a massage is what I need...

        • I really like the 21 day challenge idea.  I’m challenging myself to drink more water each day and to exercise at least 10 minutes each day for starters.

Is there anyone who’d like to partner with me and we can hold each other accountable?
