In (a little over…okay, a lot over) forty years I have done many things, not the least of which is remain married for 29 of them!

People ask me what our secret is.  I tell them “we don’t get divorced!” : D

I’ve lost 200 pounds, actually, I’ve lost twenty pounds ten times.

I have also practiced nursing for thirty years and am now in the process of getting my BSN degree with a goal of a PhD by age sixty (that gives me nine years!)

I became a writer with three years of blog posts behind me and a 50,001 word book written for NaNoWriMo in 2006 that still needs polishing!  It’s about a nursing role model for boys (we girls had Cherry Ames, RN!).   Think Hardy Boys meets Scrubs.

I raised three kids, two college grads, one in law school and one a new freshman this year.  Married off two of them last summer.

But somehow, I think I have a lot more in me to accomplish!

This sounds like a brag post!  And it is!!  : D

        • Way to go emergiblogr!  You sound so upbeat.  FYI we are the same age and I also have been married for 29 years.  My secret for the marriage longevity – keep the humor!  I think I have a lot more to accomplish also.  I just have to figure out WHAT it is!!!!!

        • I just have to say that seeing both of your photos, you both have lovely smiles and both obviously have a great sense of humor which is a big part of, well, everything!

I’ve only been married 4 1/2 years and both of your stories are inspiring.

          Best
          Cynthia

        • In the last 40 years plus 2 years. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 20 years. (We met at age 13)we have bought and sold and moved into 4 homes. Each home we needed more and more space for our 3 adopted children that are now 9,12,13 years old.We have changed careers and I’m in the begining stages of feeling inspired to go to school to learn something new!.. The best way to stay married is just knowing that divorce is not an option. Stay friends and put each other first and it will all work out.

        • The last 40 years..let’s see..I’ve been singing since the third grade whether in choirs, worship teams, duets, solos, band, and weddings. I married my highschool sweetheart, raised 3 children, homeschooled them for 5 years (taught them to read), worked in administration, worked in a hair salon..then a few years later opened my own salon in my home. Stayed married now for 27 years. Helped my husband direct a youth camp for 9 years. I’ve loved, sacrificed, forgiven, hoped, believed, trusted, and still learning. Remodeled our home, took up painting. Now..I hope and look forward to more accomplishments. Marriage..I like that..just don’t get divorced…no matter how tempting it is..ha ha.
