Twitter is the latest movement sweeping social media and affecting everyone from moms and kids, to corporations and small business owners.

It's easy to lose track of time on Twitter, and its important to prioritize to make the most out of this micro blogging platform.

      1. It's not only about business- That's right, you need to show that there is someone behind that Twitter profile.  Even if your Twitter account displays your company logo, create a personal connection with your followers so they can relate to you and understand you are a real person.

      2. Find quality followers- You may be targeting a specific demographic for your business or personal profile. You can narrow down your audience based on specific interests with sites such as Twibsor see who's discussing what with Twitter's search.

      3. Utilize Twitter applications- You can be overwhelmed with the amount of information flowing through micro blogs. Applications such as Tweetdeckand Twhirl enable you to stay organized and monitor your tweets.

      4. Tag your tweets- Hashtags allow you to add additional context to your tweets and create groupings on Twitter. Its easier than you think, just add a hashtag before a word. For example, if I am Disneyland, I can tag #Disneyland. Learn more about Hashtags hereor find what's happening in real time

      5. Be an effective tweeter and don't disappear- It may be hard to keep up (especially on the weekends/vacations) but post a few times a day so your followers know your alive, trust you, and stay interested in your information. Be sure to provide them with valuable information. Before you post anything, ask yourself, "Would I follow myself if I read this post?"

      6. Make some money- That's right, with a good number of followers you can monetize your Twitter. Magpie is an advertising network for advertisers and Tweeters. This should give you some incentive to start Tweeting!

      Looking forward to your tweets!
