      I just heard that there is a line in the just signed Stimulus Package that protects all bonuses promised before February 11.

      While the Senate constructed the $787 billion stimulus last month, Dodd unexpectedly added an executive-compensation restriction to the bill. That amendment provides an "exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009," which exempts the very AIG bonuses Dodd and others are seeking to tax. The amendment is in the final version and is law.

      Chris Dodd is a (Democratic) Senator from Connecticut who was the biggest recipient of AIG money during his campaign.

      Therefore, all yelling and screaming in Washington is probably just an act, because they know that line is in there.

      Are you outraged yet??

        • Annie – this is what I meant about your way of getting folk elected costs big bucks so you're bound to have to get into bed with different folk just to keep your campaign going which then causes a conflict of interest – how can you be unbiased when you have taken money to actually get elected.

          You can’t do this in the UK - we have very strong guidelines and limits etc;

        • Outraged is not a strong enough word for me.  They said on GMA this morning that “maybe they could shame the recipients into giving the bonuses back“.  Yeah right!

        • The joke is on us!  We have got to take back America!!  You know..when something isn't working for ya...you regroup and go in another direction.  WE need to go in a total different direction with new people who really care about our great nation and the Americans...and I said AMERICANS (NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS)!!

          It all boils down to greed. I just received an awesome video that I’ve got to see if I can get it on here but it will have to wait until I get home.  It’s on greed!

          Greed and power!  Those idiots in Washington are a disgrace to mankind!!!!  Including the almighty OBAMA!!!  Oh I am more than outraged!!!!

        • As I've said before when you take an oath of public office you're a servant of the people – they give sign your pay cheque every month with their taxes.....Once in office they forget – that small detail should never be overlooked .....

        • Anniemaggie, you’ve got the right idea.

          We need to vote every single incumbent out of office, becaus you know if they’ve been there even one term, they’ve been corrupted by the political machine.

          We all need to get invovled in politics, even if it’s just at a very local level.  show up at town meetings, run for city council, county commisioner or whatever.  We have to make voices of reason heard.

          Oh, and to answer the origianl question—yes, I’m outraged!!!!!!!

        • I just talked to a woman earlier today who is getting me involved in a local group who is fed up with Washington. The meeting she attended she was very good....cordial..and not Obama bashing...but looking at the issues and coming up with solutions. It’s only going to grow and get stronger.

          She also stated she has begun faxing letters to all congressmen...even out of our state to tell them how she feels on the way they voted.

          I see a movement in the horizon.....
