      Trying to broaden my horizons with food and new low calorie, low carbs recipes, I hoping to to start experimenting with fresh herbs, i can cook but not real familiar with the herbs

        • Do you like citrus?  I love to make up sauces with lemon, lime, orange or pineapple, and often a combo of 2 at a time.  Thyme is wonderful with all citrus, imo.  Oregano and rosemary are nice with lemon.  Cilantro isn’t for everyone, but I love it in salsas or soups.

          A very quick and simple dish is to use either boneless chicken breasts or boneless pork chops ~ sprinkle with freshly ground pepper, sea salt (or kosher salt) and thyme (if using fresh, I’d add the herb at the end of the cooking just long enough to release it’s flavor) and lemon zest.  When done, I deglaze with t a little white wine and squeeze the lemons all over the meat and serve.  Simple, fast and fresh tasting.

          Other times I want I sauce, so I’ll remove the meat (and keep under foil) use some kind of fruit juice to deglaze the pan, add the herbs, then stir in cornstarch & water combo  ~ bring to a boil and it will thicken up very quickly for a nice sauce.  

          I just realized if you don’t like citrus I’ve rambled on to you, with no help offered, LOL.  If that’s the case, I’m sorry!  ;)

          Oh goodness, I love cooking with fruits. It adds a natural sweetness to foods. Yum!!
