      Hi everyone!

I’m really out of shape and I need to move my B and get moving! I was thinking of power walking an hour a day /6 days a week for 2 weeks, just to get started and shake the laziness out of my body. Anybody else wants to join me doing whatever they feel for those two long weeks?? tongue out

        • I can not do the power walking at all but I would love to get with you all and I will do the zumba for two weeks I have to start out slow because because I have not done this in so long because I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I would love to have a group of us talking with each other daily helping and encouraging each other in trying to get in shape. What do you think You want to start a group where we encourage each other and anyone that wants to join maybe in doing what we can do and encourage them even if it just walking for 30 minutes I know for me I do a lot better when there is encouragement. What do you think about this let me know and then maybe we can talk about starting a group on it. Chat with you soon

        • Teresa, we can start a new topic in two weeks. I’m not at home most of November and I will be working 12 hours a day / 7 days a week from December until the end of March, so I cannot do a regular work out and I don’t really have time for internet. So unfortunatly I will not be able to encourage you on a weekly basis. But I can for the next two weeks though!!

Your enthousiasm is great! Go girl!!

Day 2: check heart Today was a hard one. Just started my period so really tired and the weather wasn’t great- though not raining. But I did it anyway! hurray for me!

Day 3: check heartheart Today was easier. It was sunny and warm, that helps!!

        • Emily are you on a trip just in Holland? Walking a lot counts! :) Exercise doesn’t have to be programmed as an activity in itself during the day; it can also mean taking steps instead of elevator, walking instead of taking the car, etc. Thoses add up and really make a difference in the end!

How’s that injury? Has it healed properly?

Teresa, don’t worry! When ill your body needs to rest to heal; exercise can come later. You are so motivated you probably will lose weight just by your positive attitude! lol

        • Hi,

That is a great idea!  I am a few days behind but that is ok. I have a Bayou Fitness home gym that has been taking up space in my closet.  I keep telling myself I need to get back to exercising but have done nothing.  Your suggestion is a great motivator!  Today will be my Day 1.

Mavikaya, I will use your two-week suggestion as my start.  Teresa, I am definitely open to keeping it going.  I find that I am more relaxed and physically/mentally healthy when I exercise regularly.  I used to keep it flexible to make sure I did something on a regular basis, even if it was only for 10-15 minutes.  Here is to keeping each other motivated!!

Thank you! I am actually working out at home when I use the Bayou Home Fitness gym. It is similar to the Total Gym if you have ever seen their infomercial. I pulled it out of the closet, set it up in my living room and got my Day 1 exercise in!

Teresa, I hope you feel better soon. Please take care of yourself. You can exercise when your body is ready.

Mavikaya, I think you are on Day 5. How are you and how is it going?

Hi Emily, your walk through Maastricht does sound wonderful. Minus the improper shoes, I would imagine it was a pleasant experience. Sorry to learn about your fall at the cafe. I am glad that you were not injured more seriously. I wish you a safe and uneventful recovery.

Emily, 10km is a lot! Your legs will be quite in shape when you get back home!

Teresa, you go girl!If your too weak today, you can start tomorrow or the day after. Just don’t lose that motivation!

As for me, I’ve had a stiff neck and a migrane for the past two days, so no exercise. I’ve been resting and I’m feeling better today. So if all goes well, tomorrow will be my day 5. happy I probably won’t walk an hour but I’ll see what my body tells me it can handle.

This group reallly is motivating! Alone I might of just let it go, but with such motivated people, I WANT to get back in shape! It makes it fun!!

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease so I couldn’t do much at first. My RA had affected my heart, lungs and joints. I gained 70+ pounds. Walking helped take all of the weight off. I currently do strenght training with bands and walking. On my good days I do boot camp at my gym or Zumba. I’m all in for the exercise marathon. Just remember do what you can each day. The race isn’t over until you reach your personal goal.heart

I’ve been thinking of how I can still exercise while working 7 days a week. I think I will be able to manage a 30-45 min. walk on my lunch break most of the days. I can also wake up earlier in the morning and do 30 min. of stationnary bike. i might not be able to log in everyday, but I might be able to check in once or twice a week to tell you how things are going and also to encourage all of you!

        • Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!!

Thanks Mavikaya for the welcome. Sorry to read about the migraine and stiff neck but pleased to know you‘re feeling better.  I hope you enjoyed your picnic.  I applaud your efforts to keep going considering that you work 7 days each week heart. I find what works best for me is to be flexible with my exercise schedule. I try to stick to a routine but will mix it up if my overall schedule for the day is hectic.  I use my Bayou home gym mostly, but may do yoga instead one day, or walk (not a big walker but have done it on occasion). Some days I cannot work out for the full amount of time, so I work out for maybe 15 minutes.  Check in whenever you can estatic.

Hi Teresa, kudos on your Zumba routine! It is good that you are listening to your body.  It will always tell you what it can and cannot handle. Your motivation is inspiring.  Sorry about your fibromyalgia. I had a friend years ago who suffered from it and we were always looking into different therapies for her. We have lost touch over the years, so I don't know how she is doing, but I remember what she went through back then. It's good to know that losing some weight will help you with the symptoms, especially the pain.  Keep hanging in there!

Hi Carole, welcome!! I am impressed that you have been walking for exercise for almost 2 years! It's great that you hung in there despite your RA and MCTD and can now walk for more than an hour.  Thanks for sharing. It's great motivation knowing that you hung in there and did what you needed to do for your health, and you‘re still doing it.

I am hanging in there with my exercise routines. I am getting ready to start Day 8. I had to switch from the home gym to yoga after Day 1 because I was so out of shape and sore, but I am back to the gym and making progress with it. Hang in there everyone and have a great weekend!!

Keep it up Teresa! By the way, what is fibromyalgia?

Well, I’m still on my Day6. The day before yesterday it was poring cats and dogs, yesterday we got surprise guests, and today we woke up in the middle of a snow storm! October 28th and there’s more than a feet of snow everywhere! it will snow all day. The trees still have green leaves! lol

It was our dog’s first encounter with snow and as expected she loves it! it was great running around with her this morning. I will move the stationnary bike from the barn to the guestroom today. This way the weather cannot interfear with exercise!

I will go for a long snow shoe walk in the woods today. The first snow is always exciting, especialy when it’s knee deep!

        • Hi Mavikaya Fibromyalgia is actually a  medically unexplained. the symptoms are chronic widespread pain and very very painful response to pressure . Other  symptoms are debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance, and joint stiffness. But this is only a diagnose I am a christian and I believe in healing and that Jesus took those stripes on his back for my healing so I am claiming it. I have good days and some bad but God! Well, it sounds beautiful there I grew up in snow and though I think it is beautiful I would not want to live where they get lots of snow ever again. I remember having to walk to school in hip high snow not thank you never again. where do you live? I am originally from Jamestown Ny up by buffalo I now live in SC nice in warm but then again sometimes to warm we are talking about moving i kind of hope it will be upstate sc or north carolina closer to the south side where they dont get much snow but dont get to much heat either. Sounds like nothing makes me happy lol but really I am a spring or fall girl. enjoy your walk in the woods be careful. I pray everyone has a wonderful day keep on keeping on gals we can do it.

I just started this morning and I can tell you it’s anything but. I also have to take into account just how much out of shape I am. I have a lot of joint issues, especially shoulders and hips and I’m hoping this will improve my flexibility and lessen some of my pain. I managed about 30 minutes this morning and thought I was going to die , but I stuck with it. It’s so nice to have this support to keep me going through some pretty rough personal stuff. • Hello everyone! I’m wondering if its too late to join? I’m an avid walker, jogger, trampoline jumper, whatever I’m in the mood for kinda exercise for the day gal.

Carol, so sorry to hear about your sister. I will pray for her as well.

Thank you and I completely agree. You may be onto something.
They should have gyms but I think they count the people moving sidewalk as a treadmillhappy. Good luck on your trip.

          Have a great day.
