My husband and I are going on an Alaska cruise this summer. Has anyone been? Please share your experience, any excursions you’d recommend, how the weather was......

        • Yes went last summer.  We went on Celebrity, on Concierge level, the best level to be on.  being in the travel business and a cruise specialist, I was able to keep my eye on prices through the year and got a fantastic rate.  It was fantastic and the food apparently better then any of the other cruiseline I had researched

        • Sorry Cynthia, I had to rush off and did not finish what I was supposed to write.  The weather in Alaska in August was not nice at all.  It was cold and wet, but that does not stop you doing everything you want to do. I took a group of 13 on the cruise, and arranged personal excursions.  If you let me know which places you are going to, I will forward you the details of the companies I researched and used. The Glaciers is a must.  Some of my group flew onto the glaciers which they said was amazing

        • I went with my family, husband and 3 kids, last August.  It was 50’s to 70’s usually overcast or a few drizzles.   We went Royal Carribean Rhapsody..... It was ok but I think another ship would be better.  It was looking a little aged and not much to do when at sea.  Food was good and I am very picky about quality food.   If you can go to Victoria, BC. It is a beautiful place.  Butchart Gardens is amazing, skip the butterfly place not much to see.   I want to go back and spend a few days there.

As for other excursions the glaciers are amazing, whale watching was great, and the White Pass train ride is beautiful.

Kris I will contact you for my next cruise!

        • I used to live in Sequim and went to Victoria a lot. It is indeed a beautiful place. Never made it to the gardens, though. That’s a trip I’d like to take someday

        • I brought this up again  because that cruise was so much fun we‘re going again this year. We planned to go last summer but my husband’s sister was really ill with cancer and we wanted to be in town in case we needed to fly over there.

but, this year we‘re headed back to Alaska on Princess Cruise lines. Can’t wait!!

        • Cynthia...

My sister and brother in law have NOT been on an Alaskan cruise but they did fly up and went to Anchorage then flew over to Juno...in the process the airlines LOST their luggage from like Wed. until they got up on Saturday.  They took some train ride for like 8 hours that they said they would never do again but they did love it.  The next trip they took up there they just flew up to some cabin and went fishing for a week...King Salmon they caught and caught their yearly quota...had it vacuumed packed and shipped back home.  They loved it up there.  I’ve heard of others going on the cruises and they seem to have a great time.
          Have fun....you deserve it!estatic
