I’m realizing that selling through my blog will have to be upgraded. I’m looking for a do it yourself web builder so I don’t have to hire a webmaster. I want the flexibility of being able to make changes when I want.

Cathie with [Link Removed] told me she built hers through SBI, Site Build It. She said it was a little costly and there was a learning curve but the site came out very professional and they offer a lot of extras with their cost. You can go to her site and click on “business products” for information.

Another member, hollylu, has a really nice site for her jewelry that she built herself through [Link Removed] I sent her a message for feedback on it but haven’t heard if she likes it.

And, mztracy has an etsy site but is building hers now through yahoo small business. She says it’s economical and easy to use. I have to get the link again and post it here.

If you have built a site yourself, were you happy with the method you used? If you are planning to build a site, what will you use?

I could use some guidance on site builders before I make a choice and I’m sure others could, too. Any help, advice, thoughts or cautions are appreciated.

        • I use Yahoo Small Business Site Builder too. It’s really great and easy to use. Very reasonable monthly rate. They even have a help line for you and are very friendly. You’ll want to get a domain name if you don’t already  have one. I got mine through Go Daddy.

        • I’m using Dreamweaver CS3 also.  There is a definite learning curve but I like having control over what goes on my site.  I’m hosting with GoDaddy.

        • GoDaddy IS the way to go!  Start with “Website Tonight” and build from there when necessary. You can get a 5-page site for about $4.99 a month, hosting included, voila!

They have 24-hour tech support and GoDaddy does not outsource their customer service so you can easily understand everyone you‘re speaking to.

Outstanding outfit—check out any one of my sites for an example of a GoDaddy product, completely controlled, updated, everything by me, fun!

        • I am using Microsoft Publisher, and it is going well, user friendy and you can make changes on the fly when you need to. It’s my second website and my hosting agency is GoDaddy, they are great and reasonable! I highly recommend it. also look for any free seminars and networking things in your local area, I just attended one yesterday that was put on by a local bank who asked a website design company to speak for 2 hrs, it was fantastic.

        • I saw today that you can build a free website with Google. Now as I looked through it I didn’t see that it was geared for business. It was more for information. That being said, and since Google is the search engine that seems to control the entire internet, would it make sense to have a simple web page there and then post a link to our main site that we do business with?

          Just a thought

        • Take a look at my new website.  This makes 3 for our business.  I was creating a video for a marketing PR firm and they suggested I do a website with a different name for our business videos.  So that is why this website was created.  Let me know what you think.
