I would like to schedule the weekly encouragement call. I promise this is not a sales pitch. :) There will be NO talk of supplements unless someone asks. I do think though, like weight watchers, success is easier to achieve with accountability. But, I am too busy to schedule this time out of my week - unless I have some folks who will commit to joining me consistently. I can post till I am ‘blue in the face’ but unless you are ready to change, my words will just be letters on the page. I can plant the seeds, but you have to cultivate them.

One of the things I have learned is that ‘intentions’ get you nowhere. Some of the positive thinking folks will tell you that intention = results. If it doesn’t happen, it means you didn’t have a strong enough intent. I agree to some degree. Just like The Secret, you can take that thought to the extreme.

      I prefer to say:
      Determination plus Action = Results
      Determination without Action = Discouragement.

You can take baby steps, or you can dive in the deep in head first, but if you just stand there thinking about it, nothing will change.

One of my very favorite motivational quotes is "If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what you are getting. If you want things to change You have to change!"

If you are committed, and determined to take action let me know! And, let me know when works for you time wise. We’ll get it scheduled and keep you from sabotaging your efforts during the holidays!

        • I really need this, what a wonderful idea. I keep talking to others trying to find someone who will do this, they all say yes, then it never happens. Thank you

        • kmarie,
Welcome to the group! This isn’t about ‘dieting’ - but about lifestyle changes, making wiser food choices. I am so glad you are interested in being healthier. I’d be happy to be your cheerleader. I had mentioned in another post about doing an encouragement call on Wed night at 9:30 pm Eastern time. Would that work for you?

        • Yes, so now the question is... is everybody in on Thanksgiving eve? It would be a great way to get started I think... so we can use guilt as a motivator for not overeating. LOL Actually I got ‘over it’ along time ago, and though I do eat more than normal, I avoid the high glycemic stuff. I allow myself a taste of my favorite desserts if we are visiting. Pigging out and then exercising is NOT the answer though. LOL

        • Annie,
I didn't mean to ignore you. You are more than welcome to join us. :) And my boss used to have a saying (you'd have to hear him say it to hear the humor though)
“If ya cain’t get there on time, juzz get there when ya can.” So, if you notice it is 9:45 EST, don’t blow it off, call in and join us.
          Stay tuned for call info.

        • I posted the conference call info in another thread. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. I am going to try and remember to record the call. If I forget, please remind me.
One thing that most ‘diets’ don’t address is how to train your brain for success. We’ll talk a little about this on Wednesday. I am going to suggest that everyone get a copy of Shad Helmstetter’s book, “What to Say When You Talk To Yourself.” so that you’ll have a better understanding of ‘self-talk.’ Self talk is something we all unconsciously do. The key is to learn what to say, and how to get rid of old programming...
          Such as:
I can't lose weight. I have tried every diet out there. I am a failure. I am fat. I can't seem to find the time to exercise. I ... .... .... You fill in the blanks. We all do it, and we all have some negative paths we take.
We are going to reject those paths, and create new ones.
I never knew it was so easy to lose weight. I eat, feel, and look like a thin person. I am lean and healthy. I have the Perfect Body Shape. I love to exercise. Water is so refreshing; I enjoy drinking fresh pure water. etc. etc. Think about these, and come prepared to talk about your list of negative self talk. Actually, it would be best if you would write down things you tend to say to yourself, whether good or bad. Then we can address the underlying issues so your sub-conscious won't sabotage your success!

        • Bfly,
You are also welcome to join us. Supplements are a part of my life, but they don’t have to be a part of yours to join Lean for Life. :) I will mention them from time to time, but I am not going to push them. :)

I know there are lots of prorams out there. I have heard of TOPS, but haven’t really studied what they teach. I love groups who provide weekly support. I think it is so important to get encouragement. We won’t weigh in, but I’ll encourage everyone to measure themselves. For me, watching the inches drop was much more exciting than to see the pounds come off.

        • Annie - it is in this group - just a different thread. I am hoping one day that we’ll get ‘updated group’ notifications. When you read this, go to the top and click on group - then you’ll see the thread.

Happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy your company! Hopefully I’ll remember to record it. :)

        • I’m sorry, Dee Dee. I probably won’t be able to. I have to prepare for an event at my husband’s school and I have a production load tomorrow for Christmas orders.

Any idea what time? I may be able to squeeze in half an hour.

        • 9:30 Eastern was what I was shooting for, but could go as late as 10pm if that works better for everyone. I know that is kind of early for you.
I am hoping I’ll be ready to order my chocolates by the end of the year. I have a goal, and though I disourage food as a reward, your chocolates aren’t ‘food’ they are a little taste of heaven. :) And... AND... I’d be willing to bet that just one truffle would classify as low glycemic. The trick will be to just eat one at a time. LOL
