I am not sure if I am in the right group so forgive me if I am not..I am actually looking for some major advice on how to dress. I have let my fashion sense go big time and I am ready to start dating and loose weight..get back on the “me” track. I am very large..I have a HUGE stomach. I have an umbilical hernia that just pushes everything out so I look very pregnant. I always buy shirts to try and cover my stomach. I look for shirts that are at least 30inches long and and at least a 5X but they are honestly way too big. I just dont know what to do because I am so self conscience about my belly. The bigger the shirt the longer it is.
Does anyone know what is the rule of thumb with this?
Most times, wearing sizes too large, only make you appear larger than you actually are. Do you have stores in your area that specialize in clothes for BBW? Alot of times, if you just ask,the salespersons can be very helpful in coordinating outfits, and putting together pieces that camoflage, but also flatter your assets.
Also, buy colors that you absolutely love. It always puts a spring in your step.
Oh yes of course there are BBW stores in my area but the sales people have never been helpful to be honest. A lot of them are also BBW’s but honestly I think they dress horribly! I mean my clothes are too big for me but most sales people I have seen wear heir clothes way too small.
Thank you very much for your input! I very much appreciate it!
stella65 is absolutely correct about wearing clothes that are too large, but where there’s a problem there’s often an answer. You could always have the clothes altered...What I do is is watch TLC’s What Not To Wear.
Please do not pick clothing that is too large in an attempt to conceal...it only makes things look larger than they are. If you are having trouble finding clothing that fits properly, have them altered to fit properly.

They have a wide selection of dresses and outfits from well known brands specializing in plus size clothing like Avenue, Lane Bryant, Chadwicks, Catherines, Jessica London, Silhouettes, Roamans. Hope you’ll find this helpful.
Thank you fashionsveta and everyone who has commented on my problem. I actually do buy my clothes from the list that fashionsveta mentioned. My problem is that is hard for me to know just how the clothes will look on me. I do know that I buy tops too large for myself but I am so paranoid about my stomach. I just wish there was a web site to help people like myself who arent just chubby to know how to dress..what looks too big, too tight..I am trying to change my style..instead of dressing for comfort I need to dress to make myself look nice. I just dont know how. Thats really it in a nut shell.
I really do appreciate all your advice.
