"So I sent messengers to them, saying, 'I am doing a great work and I cannot
come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and come down to you."
      Nehemiah 6:3 NAS

Nehemiah's enemies were desperate to try to stop him from rebuilding the wall of
Jerusalem. They tried to trick him, start rumors about him; they even gave out
false reports...But Nehemiah was determined to finish his task; he was determined
not to quit. He was determined that no matter what anyone said, thought or did,
he was going to complete his mission. He believed in what they were doing and he
trusted God. He was not going to be distracted, sidetracked or confused by
people, because he had an assignment to finish. The reason he was able to focus
and not stop when distractions came, is because before He started; he stopped.

Before Nehemiah started to do anything, he stopped and he fasted and prayed for
days. When was the last time you sought God's instructions on what you're
doing, through days of fasting and prayer? It's time to seek Him with your whole
heart. It's time to take your focus off of everything else, but God. It's time
to lay before the Lord, praying day and night, disciplining your flesh through
fasting, and surrendering your plans, your thoughts and your desires to God.
Spend time listening for directions, instructions and corrections. Once God had
become the center of your plan, and you begin to receive your daily instructions
from Him, He will direct your paths; give you divine favor and divine
appointments. Until then, you're doing it on your own, so you will need to
figure it out on your own.

The only way to avoid getting discouraged and giving up; the only way to stand
firm when others are trying to take you off course; the only way to be sure to
finish your task; assignment, mission and dream, is to begin to fast, pray, and
listen. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may
exalt you in due time." I Peter 5:6

When you let God take over, you will be prepared for the struggles, the
persecution, tricks and those who will tell you to quit. Like Nehemiah, you will
be able to tell them, 'I am doing a great work and I cannot come down.' You can
decide that you will not quit and you will not give up or give in. But you can
only stand firm if God is the leader of your plans.

Fasting, praying and listening can take years of labor off of your tasks.
Fasting, praying and listening to God, will make you see things clearly and do
things more efficiently. Fasting, praying and listening to God will change your
      attitude, and possibly your direction.
Before you can finish, you need to STOP, FAST, PRAY AND LISTEN!
