    • This morning, I woke up feeling very heavy hearted.  A new president, a failing economy, many uncertainties in this world.  As I contemplated on how to begin my morning, I felt led to read my bible and seek God for answers to this unsettling heaviness in my heart.

I was led to Revelations in which I normally would never read.  Yet, this morning, I truly felt for the first time I was comprehending the seriousness and urgency of God’s word in Revelations.

There is no better time than RIGHT NOW for each and everyone of us to take a good, hard look at ourselves, our attitudes,  values, morals and sins.  There is no better time than right now to analyze our walk with our Heavenly Father.  Are you on fire for Jesus, lukewarm and riding the fence or are you as cold as ice refusing to give your life to Jesus Christ?  The bible says in Revelations 3:15-16,
“I KNOW YOUR DEEDS, THAT YOU ARE NEITHER COLD NOR HOT.  I WISH YOU WERE EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER!  SO, BECAUSE YOU ARE LUKEWARM - NEITHER HOT OR COLD - I AM ABOUT TO SPIT YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH.”  Lukewarm Believers are lax in their beliefs, in which they resemble the world by being self-sufficient, full of pride and self-centered.  To allow our faith to simmer down to become lukewarm is dangerous in that we lose our intimacy with our Heavenly Creator.  As we each examine our own hearts, minds and souls, we need to honestly ask ourselves if we have become lazy in our spiritual walk with God?  We must examine if we have fallen asleep!

In Matthew 25, it discusses the ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom, meaning Christ.  Five of them were foolish and five of them were wise.  The five that were foolish did not bring the oil with their lamps.
What it is saying is that five of them were NOT prepared for the coming of the Lord. Matthew 25:5 says, “THE BRIDEGROOM
(meaning Jesus Christ) WAS A LONG TIME IN COMING, AND THEY ALL BECAME DROWSY AND FELL ASLEEP.”  The parable of the ten virgins ends with the foolish & unwise ones unprepared when the bridegroom arrived.  The warning is to keep watch, be alert, do not be deceived into thinking that lukewarm is acceptable.

As I read through the scriptures of Revelations, I discovered that eight times we are warned to hear God’s word.  Is it possible that God needed to repeat Himself this many times to get our attention?  Perhaps the quest to follow God has been a long, tiresome and lonesome journey in which we have lost our zest?  To sincerely follow God, we have to die to ourself, our selfish wants and our sinful desires.  God calls each one of us to NOT conform to the world and He says that there will be persecution.  “THEN YOU WILL BE HANDED OVER TO BE PERSECUTED AND PUT TO DEATH, AND YOU WILL BE HATED BY ALL NATIONS BECAUSE OF ME.” (Matt 24:9)

In Revelations, repeatedly the scripture states, “HE WHO HAS AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCHES.”  This scripture is written in Revelations 2:7, 2:17, 2:29, 3:6, 3:13, 3:22, 13:9 and 22:17.  For a scripture to repeat itself this many times, God is CLEARLY calling His children to pay attention, to HEAR and take heed of His holy words, to obey His commandments, to live pure, clean and authentic lives.  Most importantly, we are warned to repent earnestly of all evil, sinful, lustful, prideful, immoral ways.

The bible states that the end time is coming near, although, we do not know the time or day.  As we look around our world and watch the destruction, war, diseases and disasters, we can’t hide from the fact that this is exactly what is written in the bible.  For instance, Matthew 24:5-8 visibly looks like the world as it is today.  It says,
“FOR MANY WILL COME IN MY NAME, CLAIMING, ‘I AM CHRIST,’
AND WILL DECEIVE MANY. YOU WILL HEAR OF WARS AND RUMORS OF WARS, BUT SEE TO IT THAT YOU ARE NOT ALARMED. SUCH THINGS
MUST HAPPEN, BUT THE END IS STILL TO COME.  NATION WILL RISE AGAINST NATION, AND KINGDOM AGAINST KINGDOM.  THERE WILL BE FAMINES AND EARTHQUAKES IN VARIOUS PLACES.  ALL THESE ARE THE BEGINNING OF BIRTH PAINS.”

With this scripture in mind, it is not too late right now to
get right with Jesus.  All we have to do is confess our sin, repent and turn away from sin.  Jesus is waiting for each lost soul to cry out to Him and He will forgive.  In Revelations 3:19-20, “THOSE WHOM I LOVE I REBUKE AND DISCIPLINE. SO BE EARNEST AND REPENT.  HERE I AM!  I STAND AT THE DOOR AND I KNOCK.  IF ANYONE HEARS MY VOICE AND OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN AND EAT WITH HIM, AND HE WITH ME.”

As the end of times is drawing near, Jesus is standing at the door.  Whether you are someone who never in your life went to church or prayed, whether you are a Christian who stumbled along the way and lost your zest for Jesus, He is standing at the door right now waiting for you to hear. You have the free will and the choice to either turn away or answer the door. Before it is too late, will you consider letting Jesus into your heart?
