      Durable and easy to maintain as cast-iron pieces are, they tend to get rust easily. Remove rust spots with a commercial rust remover, then paint with a metal ptimer, followed by a coat of rust-inhibiting, exterior-quality paint. Oil the hinges of the furniture frequently in order to keep them from rusting.
