      Hello my new friends,

A joyful and sweet day to you! Spring is about to pop open here in South Texas, and so am I. This “who am I” section, as well as my profile, is hard to write, as I, at 50, am such a late bloomer (feel like it, anyway) and am just re-discovering myself. Thanks for asking!

I never thought I’d find myself here, but I’m divorcing. For over 26 years I’ve faithfully served a very controlling, dominating man, and raised 4 boys under his dark cloud. He has been emotionally, verbally and sometimes physically abusive in punishing the boys, misrepresenting God to us (of course, it was always for our own good). The worst is over, but through the years, our love and respect for him have evaporated, and I’ve finally awakened to see all the irrepairable damage that these years have caused. I’ve been blind, stupid, mousey, weak and intimidated. Now I’m trying to stand up, grow up, toughen up, buck up! Long overdue!

I know that many brave women have already been where I am, and am encouraged to read of their victories. Women truly are the gems of this world!

I love to sing, dance, breathe, love the ocean, birds, color, flowers, children, fresh food, music and life!

        Thanks for listening!

        • Glad you are starting over.  My sister is in the same water as you - 25 years with a currently recovering alcoholic who decided 37 days ago to walk out and leave her and their daughters with a diability payment and struggling to figure it out.  she will see light soon as the tears are stopping and she is standing on her feet.  Keep blooming where you are planted!!

        • My situation is not quite as severe, but I definitely see some similarities with my own.  I“m soon separating after 16 years of marriage.  I’d say that we’ve been just hanging in there for the kids for the last 6-7 yrs, but finally I can’t do it anymore.  We have to hope that there’s more to life than “just hanging in there!” Let me know how things go for you.  My 3 kids after between 4-12 yrs old.

        • Be strong, be confident, and be yourself. I am happy for you that all those bad days had gone and there is bright future awaiting for you.  Be positive and you will realize that everything happened for a reason and you can choose to make it a strength for you to step forward.
Good Luck to you. Aloha from Hawaii.
