Is the Caribbean your favorite place to vacation? What islands have you been to? Which one is your favorite? Do you have a particular resort to rave about?

Ever since my first caribbean trip with my husband, I fell in love with the islands. Sure, there are tons of other places in the world to explore, places with tons of history, tons of things to do and see and I hope to visit other places in the world someday too. But, my obsession is the caribbean.

Why? Because all during the year, I commute back & forth to work, sit in an office all day, deal with life’s daily stresses, am an assistant to my boss, etc., and when vacation time rolls around, all I want to do is UNWIND, DE-STRESS and be waited on! No housework, no “assisting“, no chores, no worries, for ONE WHOLE WEEK!!!  I think my husband & deserve it.

I especially love the “couples-only“, all inclusive resorts in the caribbean. No offense to parents but to go on vacation where there are no kids; to places where there are couples like us, who want to leave the reality and daily worries at home for one week and be pampered, catered to and relax, isn’t that a relief from the day-to-day! Yes, all that will be there when you go home, but you are also going home with happy memories. People tell me when I come home from vacation with the most relaxed and tranquil look on my face. So, whether you want an active vacation or a non-active one, the caribbean has it both. We’ve been to:

      Jamaica
      Dominican Republic
      Bahamas
      Barbados
      Antigua
      Cancun

..and a couple of them more than once. People say to me: aren’t they all the same? Don’t you get bored? Well, there ARE similarities, however, the food and culture is different in each and the islands have history too.

Do you like the caribbean? Can you recommend an island or a resort?

        • See you have already been to Barbados, therefore cannot suggest you do.  I was born, raised in Barbados and it would have been my first choice of suggestions.  However, I would like to suggest Trinidad & Tobago, since these are two islands with Trinidad being the mother island, I prefer Tobago, very beautiful.

        • Oh I love the Carribean too! Aruba was beautiful.  We went to the Dominican Republic last year to the Excellence Punta Cana it was adult only and it was so nice!  We did not even leave the resort to go on any tours the resort was perfect!
I have also been to Mexico - Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel. I too prefer the adult only.  I stayed in Jamaica for 4 weeks at the University hospital when I was a nursing student in the 80’s and I loved it.  Oh the expeditions we went on! We took our kids to Mexico that was our only true big family vacation - the kids loved it.  I cannot afford to take them again though :(  We are saving to go again in 2010 - somewhere maybe Punta Cana again or maybe St. Lucia.

        • I would love to visit Trinidad/Tobago someday Jacquie! It’s my goal to work my way through the caribbean islands until I’ve visited most or all of them! LOL

Katee: We went to Excellence twice and to this day I still rave about that resort to my friends. We had so much fun without ever leaving the resort. I have never laughed so much and was so active as I was when we went here. I really want to go back someday.

        • All Inclusive/ Adults Only... the only way to go..
For the past 11 years my husband and I have taken 1 week in January and gone to some tropical island. With having so many kids this was “our” time!!
We have been to Hawaii,Anna Maria Island, Can Cun, Punta Cana, Aruba, Curacau, St. Lucia, Antigua, Jamaica and Palm Island/St.Vincent and The Grenadines
Every place is unique and beautiful in its on way! We love staying at Sandals Resorts and have enjoyed their conceirge and butler services!! A must at these Spa/Golf Resorts!! The level of service you receive is well worth the money!! After all who doesn’t want to be pampered on a beautiful tropical island!!
We are undecided where we will go next year but I am sure it will be just as beautiful!!
