  • Crockpot beans without soaking first

      1 cup dried beans - I used pinto for this recipe
      4 cups water
      3 cloves garlic
      1 onion

      Just throw everything into the crockpot and cook it on high for about 4 hours. This gives you soft  beans without any salt or strong seasonings to use in any recipe. If you want to make this as a pot of beans ready to eat, wait until the last hour or until the beans are somewhat soft to add salt, seasonings, bacon, ground meat.

      I usually make these beans and keep them in the fridge to use throughout the week in various recipes so I don’t season them ahead of time.
