  • Diet Fads - Are We That Gullible??

      I can’t believe how many diets are being sold to us. Are we that gullible?? Why do so many people spend money on losing weight when we can do it without spending money at all? There have been so many diets out there (over 400!). Some may make a little sense, some make no sense to me.  

      Here are some of the ones that I personally enjoy reading about:  

      • Apple Cider Vinegar Diet - Who would want to do this?  
      • Chocolate Diet - If this one worked, I would have discovered it long ago.  
      • Cabbage Diet - My stomach hurts just thinking about this one.  
      • 1 Day Diet, 2 Day Diet, and 7 Day Diet - If the 1 Day Diet works, why bother with the 2 Day or 7 Day Diet?  
      • Ice Cream Diet and Cookie Diet - Add the Popcorn Diet and you can have a party  
      • Subway Diet - For people who want to diet while watching football  

      Where’s the MacDonald’s diet? I can’t believe no one thought of that yet!  

      The older I get and the more I do this the more I realize that we just need to eat a healthy diet. Not too much of one thing. Eat things that are close to their natural form.  

      For now, I’m going to just try to eat healthy, limit/eliminate unnatural ingredients and processed foods wherever possible, and increase the amount of vegetables I eat. I’ll figure out the rest as I go along

        • Annie reading the Wendy Shanker book she makes a valuable point – Major weight loss programmes would not be successful business models if they helped you lose weight and maintain that loss – so Heinz would not have bought Weight Watchers if they didn't know it was a serious money earner – as it's always a typical response when you join WW they say so put up your hand if this is not your first visit and a sea of hands appears!

          Plus the diet industry is worth $40 billion dollars per year Business Week said for last year.

          Plus anyone can write a diet book if I lost 30lbs through purging and laxatives and no food and then wrote some stupid diet saying I did this on day one and this on day two and the weight will drop off and showed before and after pictures – how many folk would buy it loads ...... as I'm Mrs Normal like you and you would think if she can do it and so can I.

          I take you don't know the maple syrup mixed with lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper diet which Beyonce uses ....... what a nutritious diet that is – yes I'm sure the weight drops off but soon as you eat it must pile back on and some more.  

          Also McDonalds spend $3 per head on advertising to get you though those Golden Arches....that's a very powerful message.
