If you decide to get a pet please consider adopting.  There are plenty of pets at local shelters or with rescue groups.

        • Kat007,

Did you know that I got Scotia, aka “Scoti” from the animal shelter in my city. She is such a joy and full of energy, my 18yoa son thinks so too.

        • no, you r not.
I just feel until we save all those needing homes, we should curb the breeding.

I have has pure breds and mutts. The mutts were alwasy sweeter. lol

and you can find pure breds at shelters too.

don’t feel bad cdoll...my sister got a pure bred sheapard from a breeder. I still love her!! lol

        • I too am a firm believer in adopting from a shelter.  My two current dogs are labs, and my husband was so impressed with the organization, he is now their president.  There are so many unwanted dogs/cats, please consider a shelter.  Most of us are not looking to show or breed a dog, so why not rescue instead?!  If anyone is interested in adopting a lab or lab mix, please let me know.

        • China Doll,
I don’t want you to think I am against breeders.  There are some very reliable and trustworthy breeders around.  I am just saying that there are so many sweet sweet dogs in shelters and rescues that people should consider adopting.

I don’t know if you have heard of puppy mills but that is the kind of breeders that I have a real problem with.  They have lots of dogs that never have human contact and they just use them to produce puppies to sell.

        • We had gotten a harliquin great dane that had been rescued. She was so sweet and wonderful until a teenage boy came around. She must have been abused by young boys. Men, women and children didnt frighten her only teenage boys. She unfortunately has gone onto dog heaven.
Rescue is the only way I would go again.

        • I absolutely agree! if you don’t need a show dog, or for breeding, if you just need a friend, a companion, PLEASE adopt. there are so many of them! waiting for you! and some of them are purebred. we have 2 cane corsa and english mastiff right now. we LOVE mastiffs! we adopted our english mastiff exactly a year ago from rescue group. his name now is SLONIK (baby elephant in Russian estatic). Slonik was left in the backyard of a foreclosure house in Las vegas with pregnant female mastiff for God knows how long, without food or water... can you beleive this? I understand, people are loosing their houses, but just one call to any shelter, just to let them know, they are there, shelter staff would pick them up. no, they just left them there.  thanks God, neighbors noticed some kind of activity there... those dogs could die... it just breaks my heart to think even for a second that we could never met OUR SLONIK... he’s just laying here right now in the office next to me and SNORE. like crazy, sometimes I call him SNORIK estatic.
