My 12 year old female lab, Nikki, has arthritis.  She manages pretty well but her back legs are stiff all the time.  We don’t have any steps in the house but there are two to get to the yard that she is still managing.  We build her a ramp though, to help her conserve her energy and she steadfastly refuses to use it.  Any suggestions on hos to entice her?  Food has not been doing it. She has been known to be a tad stubborn in the past...

Btw, we have seen improvement in her since we started the glucosomine supplements last year.  If you have not already tried them and have a dog with arthritis, give it a shot!

        • If you give her Ester C also that seems to help.  I have a rott. that is bowlegged and we give him ester C and 2000mg of glucosomine and so far that has helped him really good.

        • When we moved into a house that had stairs my dog was afraid to use them. She refused no matter what we tried. One day my brother came over and sat at the top of the stairs and kept coaxing her to come up. She finally did! We couldn’t keep her off the stairs after that! She ran up and down all the time. My suggestion is getting someone she likes to try and coax her into using the ramp besides you and anyone in your house.happy
