      Money Matters, Ladies

Every year, dozens of companies will spend months shedding blood, sweat and tears to create and finance a television commercial to be aired in a coveted Super Bowl timeslot.  Beer, trucks, junk food and fast food will threaten to smother its viewers in their respective ways, but the ultimate irony is that women influence nearly 100 percent of all household purchases and control 80 percent of the actual spending.

This holds especially true in big ticket items, such as cars, appliances, furniture, d├ęcor and, of course, groceries.  Women, especially wives who are spending two incomes most likely, will always at minimum give their influential input into family purchasing decisions.
Women are also incredibly savvy shoppers and consumers.  Women are likely to compare prices, services and special deals before committing to spending money in any large quantity.

While much of the media content of entertainment (television or radio) programs centering on a male audience, the producers and marketers of these shows still aim to advertise to an audience of at least half women.
