Is there anyone with any idea on how to dress fashionable but still maintain that elegant look for our age?

        • Hello Aretha, I feel its all in your spirit, how you feel in it, do you feel like your 40 and how do you yourself look at 40? Do you feel like a youthful 40, a old 40, a midlife crisis 40 lol? To me it depends on you and the way you feel about being the age you are but I always try to dress for a youthful look seeing I’m soon to be 49, but don’t look it, so reseach some things for your self and see what you come up with.

        • Nice to meet you Neicy,
          Its you the person.
I have been told many times that i do not look 40, but because I know it, I want to look the age and not to dress too young to cause any attention to myself. Thanks for your comment.
          Have a nice day.

        • One look that younger girls are sporting is the tight, tight, tight shirt.  Idk, but I don’t think that’s a good idea for us more mature ladies.  Even if we have the figure for it, I just think it looks trashy on us.

Also, the embarrassingly low cut jeans look.  Yikes!  The tatoo showing in the back just above the jean line.  Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think it’s becoming to those of us who hope to command respect and authority from the world around us.  And us Fab40 ladies deserve that respect!

One item I love to wear is a blazer or jacket of some sort.  Even just an open buttoned shirt.  I think a layering piece on top adds class to everything—jeans, slacks, skirt or dress.  Not to mention it can hide a few figure flaws.

When it comes to pantyhose, I’m on the fence.  I had one consultant tell me pantyhose are a MUST in the office, no matter what the fashion trends.  What’s the opinion out there for that article of clothing?

        • I dress to fit my shape. I tend to favor classic styles and I add a few modern emphsis but I dress more to fit my shape, than anything else. Gravity is begining to set in..

        • I have very large bust but quite proportioned in my body. I dress conservative but try to wear fashionable clothing. I like lace and cotton so try to buy clothing in these materials.
I do always want to look my very best but try to maintain that elegant look. I hate those low cut jeans and panty hose too.

        • I dress fashionably sexy but according to my age.  There is nothing worse than seeing a mature woman dressing like she’s 18 yrs old.  Whether she “can” wear those clothes or not.  IMHO

        • I agree with you ladies. Nothing looks worse than a 40 something lady trying to compete with the teenage girls. I don’t care what kind of shape you are in...it just looks trashy!

        • I got the Lands End catalog a few days ago.  I noticed they are offering a couple of different cuts for both pants and tops—the tighter styles as well as the fuller hip area items.  Think I’ll give them a try.

I think they also have items for you gorgeous taller ladies, too.  (I’d love to have your problem!)
