I’m 46 and in menopause.  Everyone says I’m kind of young to be in it already.  I haven’t gotten any symptoms like hot flashes or night sweats, etc.  I did go bonkers this summer when we had a flea infestation in our home from my cat, but I don’t know who wouldn’t over something like that.  I was really stressed out, but it’s over and I’m fine now.  I’ve also started taking anti-depressants recently.  My sisters say everything is magnified when your menopausal and think I should get on estrogen, but I’m not so sure. I’d gotten really stressed out over bugs before when we had an ant invasion, and I wasn’t menopausal then.

So I’m wondering if I should get on estrogen, although I don’t think I need to at this point since I haven’t had the symptoms such as hot flashes, etc.  I heard you shouldn’t go on estrogen after you’ve already been in menopause for several years.  I also read that you‘re really supposed to take the hormones during peri-menopause.  Is this true?  Then there are the risks to consider...osteoporosis vs. breast cancer and heart attack.  What do you all recommend?  My GYN hasn’t said much about it.  He’s on the quiet side and I’m thinking of changing doctors.
