Last weekend I went north to find some autumn colors, as the first storm of the season was approaching California. I booked last minute accommodations on Friday afternoon at a fishing lodge half way between Bishop & Mammoth Lakes.

When I arrived at my cabin around midnight, there was sleet coming in strong, but no electricity or heat in my room. So I grabbed my camping gear outta my car & made the best of it. The next day it was all fixed (circuit breaker) & they didn’t charge me for my first night stay. How nice of them. It was a very rustic lodge on Hwy 395 - called TOM’s Place.

After exploring Lake Sabrina, North Lake & South Lake near Bishop all day SUNDAY, I was driving southbound & decided to hit up some Hot Springs on the Lower Kern River. I met so many cool people (Russian dudes, San Jose boys, a local guy) that I soaked until 3AM & then camped there last night. Had coffee w/ the campers this morning around 10. Got lunch in Lamont & then came back up.

I love traveling solo, as it allows me to do what I please without anyone else complaining & take as many photos as I need.
