The way you experience your everyday life depends almost entirely on the commentary that’s running through your mind.

Whatever you‘re doing. If you view it resentfully you will feel resentful.

Whatever you‘re doing. If you describe it to yourself positively you will feel uplifted.

Support that change physically. When you relax your body, and the muscles in your face , when your smile or sing or hum , your spirits also inevitably lift.

Here is an old story that describes the power of attitude.

Once there were three stone cutters engaged in the building of a cathedral in medieval times. A man came up to the first stone cutter , in the exhausting midday heat of a dying  Italian summer, and asked him what he was doing. The stone cutter barely look up. ‘‘As you can see,‘’ he said, bitterly, ‘‘I am cutting stones.‘’ The man waited  a while . Then he went up to the second stone cutter and asked him the same question. This stone cutter didn’t hesitate. ‘‘I’m  providing a living for my family,‘’ he replied. Some time later, the man went up to the third stone cutter , Again he asked the question , ‘‘What are you doing ?‘’ This stone cutter put down his tools , looked up at the man asking him the question , wiped his brow and smiled. ‘‘I am building a great cathedral.‘’
