As mother of the bride...I had been planning this day for twenty four years. Everything turned out wonderful and I had a blast.  Everyone seemed to really enjoy the event.  For all of the work you plan and put into a wedding ...I just wish it lasted longer! I thought I could do almost everything.  But the cake about pushed me over the edge!  Never try to do the cake, design the flowers make the invitation, the program and decorate the church and reception hall for you daughter's wedding.  It was the cake that did me in!  Thank God for friends that make beautiful cakes!
Everything was going great until the cake fell open like an earthquake. It tasted great...layers of fresh strawberry cake with cream cheese icing and other layers of italian cream cake just like I had made for years. Of course her favorite and requested flavor was strawberry! The problem was it was too big and too moist. And it could not be used in the wedding...now the day before. Oooh My LORD what would I do??? My husband said, "I will give --- the day off", his assistant financial officer could have the day off and she makes beautiful cakes! She offered to make the cake!?!?!?! And she did!  The day of the wedding she worked her magic and everything fell into place in a good way.  God gives us all talents and I'll stick to making cakes for fun thank you!  Everything else was a breeze! Well...it was easier than making the cake.  So, if you have any questions I'll be happy to help.

        • Thank you Gwen and thank you Patti! By the grace of God and hard work it was magical! I have learned not to panic but I was afraid at the last minute that I was in deep STUFF!  A wedding with no cake would have been a BIG boo boo on my part. WOOSH.... thank GOD for precious cake makin’ friends!!! We say we have angels here in Sewanee and boy she is one for sure!!! She made her daughter’s cake just the month before and warned me not to try it. She did a lovely job on them both and at last minute.
