Hi, I’m Sheri, I’m 44, and in January 2008 I had an outpatient procedure called Endometrial Ablation.  And let me tell you, this has been the greatest thing since pantyliners for me!!

Here’s why, for the past several years, (at least 8, but probably more, I just wasn’t paying attention), my periods were becoming increasingly uncomfortable, uncontrollable, just downright messy, let alone the fact that it was taking me at least a week to feel back to normal after a full 7-10 days of heavy flowing.  Add to that the week of PMS-ing and I was left with about one week a month that I felt “normal“.

My mom passed away 15 years ago, 3 weeks before her 49th birthday, and I don’t have any other female relatives around to confer with regarding what has been the “norm” for them.  I do remember her telling me during the last couple years before her passing that her periods were changing quite a bit.  A lot of clots, no warnings, a lot of pads being soaked thru, but she never mentioned that she felt completely wiped out or the level of discomfort that went along with it for her.

About 2 years ago I saw an ad in a magazine for NovaSure,  that’s the commercial name for the procedure.  It was just before my annual “poke and prod” exam, but I didn’t bother to ask about it at that time.  The next year when I finally did ask, I got all the info I needed to see that I HAD TO HAVE IT!!

I was referred to the local Ob-Gyn office that did the procedure, had an exam by that doctor, and was questioned as to my personal symptoms to see if I was a good candidate for it.  I passed and was scheduled within 2 weeks.  Hubby brought me in on Friday morning and by mid-day I was home.  I did have some pretty good cramps, and mildly heavy flow for a couple days.  Stayed home from work on Monday, went in for half a day on Tuesday, and was ok to stay all day Wednesday.  And it’s been all downhill from there!!

I have a few friends who have since “fessed-up” that they too had this procedure and are thrilled with their own results.  And I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who will listen and who’s periods are getting to more and more of a “monster“.

Please share your story, or ask questions, or whatever...
      thanks for joining!!

        • I had mine Ovasure Oblation done first quarter of this year.  I was bleeding for over a month.  I am ever so thankful for this procedure.

I did kid to the doctor, saying “Great! I can now mess around.” He said, “you can still get pregnant plus you have a good husband, I won’t allow.” We both laughed loud.
