As I am going through the WWFab40 and looking back at posts from everyone it occurs to me that we fall into 1 of 2 catagories.

      We either struggle with :

Food- not eating enough, eating too much, eating the wrong things, eating at the wrong times.

Exercise- either we are not doing enough, doing any at all, or maybe we need to exercise for our age, body type or specific health concern.

What is your struggle? Post it here and maybe we can help each other with this specific area.

      Success is the only option!

        • My struggle is definitely food. I try to eat about every 3 hours but I forget alot. I am one of those that has destroyed my metabolism by not eating enough.

          So I need Food help.

        • Since food and exercise pretty much define our existance, I think both are a daily....possibly hourly and minutely struggle for all women. For example...I just ate a piece of cinnamon pound cake this AM....when I mentally told myself to cut back today because last night a polished off a bag of chips...   hahaha

ugggggggggggggg    I don’t have an answer for this dilema tongue out

        • Vikki... eating every 2-3 hours is way better for you than 2-3 large meals per day....  there, I just validated you and also justified that piece of pound cake I ate!!! haha

        • Wouldn’t pound cake count as breakfast or snack before lunch?

Oh wait that is bad! I would eat that slice and then nothing else till dinner... which is bad.

        • Food is my nemesis! I love it/I hate it! I eat too much of it. I don’t eat junk food, never have. I eat lots of fruit, veggies, lean protein, whole grains. My problem is I eat too many calories for my daily needs and my body can’t use it all so it stores as fat.

I have been good with exercise but lately I’ve had a hard time working it into my schedule. No excuse, I know.

        • Do you have a problem with being underweight, Vikki?

The funny thing about metabolism is that if you space your food consumption too far apart, the body thinks it is starving and actually turns more of the food it finally receives into stored fat....because it doesn’t know when it’s getting fed again!!  If you eat more frequently, the body uses the food to burn as fuel and doesn’t store as much as “reserves“.

I just can’t seem to get back into my routine.

        • Is 8 oz. considered a glass? So we need 8 8 oz. bottles of water or 4 16oz. bottles per day??   I better get drinking!! I know I've heard that this also needs to be separate from other beverages...like coffee....and wine...right??  haha

So Unfair those don’t count in the total consumption!!

        • I struggle with both. I started yoga a few weeks ago, but was only able to attend one session/wk. This week I will be able to add a second session. I’m not really getting any cardio, unless you count running up and down the stairs to answer the door!

As far as eating goes, I eat all day. I try to eat healthy snacks...nuts, raisins, fruit, a little dark chocolate each day.

I don’t diet. Ever. If I want to lose weight, I cut out some of the sweets and starchy foods. Then add walking to my routine. Although I am not what you would consider slim or fit, I’m not concerned with losing weight. I just want to be healthy for the long haul.

        • LOL! I wish I was underweight but no I have about 32 more lbs to drop. While I was working I would eat when I could. I didn’t set aside time to eat regular. And since my job had shifting hours that made it even harder to eat regularly or so I told myself.
So I have effectively killed my metabolism. I never have a problem with drinking water or getting enough exercise. But the years of yo yo dieting, being almost 45 and perimenopausal is creating chaos.
I have been setting a timer on my cell phone to remind me to eat thru out the day. I can’t say that it works all the time but it is helping. I am also carrying protein bars with me when I go out.

Ok Lisa time to WOMAN up! This is the place....

        • I try to drink ALOT of water.
I know I need to eat more veggies, and fruit.

I probably eat stranger than anyone I know. 4-5 little meals per day usually-if I don’t skip breakfast that is. But one, for example would be a plate of baked potato with a veggie or maybe a bowl of Special K (red berry). They aren’t typical meals per say.

I’ve started working out at home as well. Being more inactive after the layoff & all of that made me feel really sluggish & likely doesn’t do much for the circulation! EEKS!

I’m trying to take better care of myself.

        • Jenz, I understand. I eat a bowl of frozen blueberries (partially thawed) in soy milk, topped with walnuts and a little Uncle Sam’s Whole grain cereal. Most people top the cereal with bluberries! Or I’ll steam some raisins to eat the same way.

I am getting better at Exercise- but the momment life get’s stressful I tend to forget about both like right now. What is haelping me with exercise is my 90 day committment to exercise in some form for 90 days straight. I started on February 1st and other have joined in. It is keeping me on tract. I need all the reminders, I can get. Like I will finish this and go eat lunch

        • Hi Vikki!
I think my metabolism is wrecked too! I used to starve myself in high school and my 20’s. I excercised 3 hours a day in my late 20’s, so now when I need to exercise, my knees are wasted. I wish I had “do over’s” with my body!!!

I drink a lot of water, my biggest struggle is not binging (a whole half gallon of ice cream or something). I haven’t done that in a long time. I hate the way it makes me feel and that probably has helped it no happen again. I agree linni, night time is bad. That is why I go to bed so early, so I can get up at 5:00 to go to the gym and so I sleep instead of eat!

        • aaaah! Sleep instead of eat! That sounds good and I will actively try that. However (this may be a crossover conversation) I am wondering if my unofficial peri menopause is helping with the weight issue but also preventing me from sleeping much???????

I did do good yesterday...dinner consisted of 1 slice of pizza (thin crust) salad w/lowfat dressing and some grapes after. Also dinner was at 7pm, bed was at midnite.
I had breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks between. That is more than I usually eat.
Now if I can just stick to that routine......

I’m BAD about eating at bedtime - and not healthy!!  I’ll even behave and get yogurt or such - but then follow it up with peanut butter or chips, chili, spaghetti whatever!!  IKES!!   Lucky I don’t weight 10000 lbs!!

I don’t buy unhealthy or high calorie food, but if
at a party or work and someone brought in a cake or
pizza or.....I just eat it. (and I am not even
hungry). I eat extremely fast and always have. I think
my number one problem is that I consume too many calories
each day. Those extra ‘goodies’ just add up each week.
