As I sit and gaze into the heavens
      Bathing in Gods spotlight
      My pores exuding childhood memories
I reminisce of the good old days
      Barefooted and carefree
      Little child running wild
      Summer breeze caressing my cheeks
      Double Dutch and hop scotch
Red light, green light, yellow light, stop
      You hide, I seek
I bet I can climb the highest in that tree
      Lightning bugs and mosquito bites
      Mother may I
Oh those were the good old days
Remember how we would get excited just to hear the ice cream man
      Push-up pops and screwballs
      Nutty buddies and Mickey mouse
But we better beat the street light
I’m not getting my own switch tonight
Oh those were the good old days
Remember how we use to watch Fat Albert and them on Saturday mornings
And how we couldn’t wait to see the road runner and the coyote kick up dust
I guess we better stop jumping in the bed
I think we getting a little too loud
Yall know mama in there watching Good Times
Oh those were the good old days
Remember when happy meals really made us happy
Kool aid really made us smile
Now that I think about it
Pretty much everything made us smile
      Back then
Oh those were the good old days

        • I’m really thankful I have those memories and very sad that my granddaughter won’t.  My kids, well maybe the happy meals and jumping in the bed, but nothing else.  It’s sad.
