Yesterday, around 9:00 am, the government decided to fly a commercial airliner, really low, and surrounded by fighter jets over lower Manhattan (and right over the World Trade Center site) to take pictures. The NYPD was notified ahead of time but no one else was.

      Hello????

There was panic, building evacuations, and people running and screaming in the street.

Luckily, I was in midtown or I would have been one of those people running and screaming.

For anyone who was downtown on 9/11, this was NOT the thing to do. I know it was the Federal Govt who initiated this plan and told the NYPD not to say anything... but who? What were they thinking??

Do you think I’m angry about it? You bet I am!

        • OMG!!  This is the first I’ve heard of it.  That infuriates me.  I mean what was the purpose of doing it..taking pictures?  Oh....are they that insensitive that they do not realize people are still afraid?

How hard was it to notify Americans..living in that area of what they were going to do so people would not panic?

I would voice my opinion of it....anyway I could.  Was it on all the morning shows this morning?  I didn’t even turn the television on this morning.  I’ll have to research online about it.

I would be furious too Annie. But I’m glad you didn’t have to experience it as others did.

That is like yesterday with that suspicious activity at one of our local Bank of Americas yesterday that I blogged about.  A senior teller sent out an email to all of the branches with a link to our local cbs television station saying “breaking news...Bank Robbery“.  Well first of all we had to Lt.’s form the police dept at our branch who confirmed it was not a bank robbery and second of all ..you can’t believe everything the media says.  I informed her that the information was incorrect. She never responded until today...and her response was “yeah I heard that but it was on the news“.  And I emailed back that in the future it would probably be best to let Deposit Services, a Vice President, or the President to send out that info.  She came back with that she felt everyone needed to be on their P’s and Q’s.  Well I understand that but I also understand that you don’t need to alarm people who are already jumpy with false information.

That is really terrible what happened in New York city.

        • when I first saw the “don’t blame Obama” comment, I honestly thought it was said sarcasticly. I did not realize there was such a fierce emotional investment to “protect” Obama with such a knee-jerk reaction to a relevent Obama administration critque.  Obviously, I was mistaken. My response WAS sarcastic, even though you proved the point that WE SHOULDN‘T  and are not allowed to have an opinion about the current President.  I thought that was what this group was for, respectfully, that is.  I hope there is room for legitimate, adult discussion with Obama supporters.

        • Obama is about peace and getting along with others, he doesnt try to intimated others...Bush does not control what happens in Obama’s adminstration but, Obama has not been in office long enough to change all of the things that Bush has done..How many times have Bush said he was wrong..I dont expect perfection from Obama but, I do expect great things! And I guess you (annie123) dont know what blog is about because not once did I say Bush had anything to do with what happened in April. But please correct me if I am wrong (I learned that from Obama)

        • You ladies realize your not going to agree on anything don’t you?

Karen just move on with the satisfaction that it’s your turn now - and for at least the next 3.5 years they’ll have to suck it up as you had to for 8 years.

I’m going to hold out and see how he does before I start nit picking. IMO, he’s the best shot we’ve got at gaining any respect from around the world again. We’ve exposed ourselves, and that’s what puts us at risk.

I’m not sure that it ranks up there with launching a Trillion Dollar War on faulty intellegence though.

        • If you think that “having respect around the world” is what makes us safe, then it is no wonder you voted for Obama.  What a shallow, naive perspective of who our ememies are, what their agenda is, etc.  If it was respect around the world and I think we all agree that Clinton was liked and respected around the world, and Clinton NEVER responded to any attacks against the US all during his Presidency (even AFTER Bin Laden declared war against us in 1998), then HOW does the same appeasement, “please love us again” attitude which Clinton had - have anything to do with respect around the world and keeping us safe? Bush wasn’t at war on 9/11, I know I’m hitting you with too many facts, but these simplistic, media-driven arguments that are based on opinions are ridiculous. And the economy is NOT GETTING BETTER UNDER OBAMA, just wait until the inflation hits from the money they are printing NOW to keep up with the $1.8 Billion deficit Obama is creating, HE DID NOT INHERIT THAT! He has tripled the Bush deficit, in 4 months, as opposed to 8 years. It is so disturbing how little people know and what you base your opinions on. Don’t just listen to what Obama says, look at what he does, they are two different things, the man is a scam artist - a really good one at that.

        • No Karen, he is the President of my country, but he is NOT my President, I disagree with everything he stands for and his philosophy of what the purpose of the government is for. I am disturbed that he is the President because his policies, I believe will leave us vulnerable economically as well as national security. Obviously, what would make me feel safe and what makes you feel safe are two different things. I also am done with this whole Bush/Obama deal. I responded to your “DONT BLAME OBAMA” comment because I thought you were kidding, as was I. But I don’t think this conversation CAN be rational, because we will NEVER agree and this could get ugly. I don’t know you and it isn’t worth this kind of back and forth. If I went toe to toe with you on facts and realities and issues, your head would explode, and you wouldn’t accept my perspective anyway, you NEED to believe the crap you’ve been fed, that’s too bad. I’m done.
