Had I met you first....

You and I would be making memories....you and I would have beautiful, bright, hardworking children and many grandchildren.  I would take pride in having worked side by side with you building your empire.    Had I met you first....there would be no reason for a 2nd.
But I did not meet you first.
Now I must be content with meeting you, knowing you and hoping that we can be friends. I want to speak with you, hear your voice and not worry about the numbers that show up on the phone bill. I want to share with you, feel you and love you .....if only as a friend would. I don't want to hide you. I want to be able to say your name while I am sleeping as I speak other friends names.
And I will wait....and hold on to our "friendship" if that is all there is, because I did not meet you first.
