        • I’m always amazed at how people I come across on a daily basis from somewhere in Tennessee...just hard to get them all in one location.

This is a wonderful idea and I look forward to being a member of the whole.

I live one hour south of Nashville, (Lincoln county), just 10 minutes from downtown Fayetteville...the county seat and very active.

Our area is steeped in agriculturaal history, cattle and horses being the major industry today. Dairy and chickens  and of course food farming too.

My hubby and I own and work an herb farm, both for family use and as a commercial business.

We market-both wholesale and retail-fresh and dried herbs, dried and blended herbal seasonings, herbal tisanes and blended teas.

I’m retired from the field of education, owning and working a pre-school/day care service for almost 30 years.

I have two married sons-one retired from the US Navy, the other is a Law Professor and practicing attorney in the state of Alabama.

          I have 3 grandsons,Christopher-age 25, Bradley age 10, and Jack age 8 next month.

They are delightful and a pleasure to be with.

I come from a very large family, 5 siblings and literally 100’s of cousins. My only surviving aunt is 92..she has 15 children and close to 50 grands and great grands.

Needless to say our reunions are “big.” We have one every other year...

Feel free to ask questions about me, my business, my passions.

You can learn more about my passions, business, and just what makes me tick... by visiting my website and my blog. I would enjoy doing the same if you care to share.

Have a happy day and EatWell to BeWell.

Why not come to Tennessee ? It’s a beautiful state with much to offer, and no income tax!!

We lived in Asheville NC for 5 years prior to Tennessee, it’s very crowded there , lots and lots of over building, although a beautiful place to visit, I would not wish to live there again.

Good to have you here in the group and I look forward to knowing you.

Wartrace was founded about 1853 and like Bell Buckle had it’s boom time during the early railroad years.

A bit of history here for anyone interested.

Bell Buckle was founded in 1852, so the two towns are really sister towns.

        • I was born and raised in LA actually the “valley” as in valley girl and later moved to Orange County.  I met my husband and we bought a house in Mission Viejo, CA in Orange County.  We moved out to the country living in Waxhaw, North Carolina south of Charlotte and from there to Montgomery, AL.  Personally, California is not what it use to be.  I loved the South!  My daughter would ice skate all day with her purse, including money and cell, on the bench.  No one used the lockers and nothing was taken.
Now in CA you have to watch everything. My kids have worked at Best Buy and Staples and people steal all the time. I used the bathroom (toliet) at the video store and found DVD’s in the tank! The person working there said they take them into the toilet and rip them open steal the DVD and leave. There are all kinds of ways people steal here. My alarm person said they had someone dress as painters use a ladder to the window balcony and break the window and yell to their partner, “I broke the window I better go inside and call the owners.” Some people in the South don’t even lock their doors!
People drive worse than ever.  I have already been rear ended.  My teacher said it has gotten worse lately and I agreed.  Just the crazy traffic is enough to make you move.

I love the Meetup groups because I can get to know people.  Oh, we moved back for work, my stepfather had a serious illness leading to death, etc.  Now we live in San Diego and I hate to drive now that I am spoiled by living in the country.  My husband takes the coaster to work.  We both love Europe and the rapid transit.  Some people here act like the train is beneath them.  We will probably move for his job again.  We still have a small house in NC that we rent out and will probably retire in some day.

        • Hi Elaine,

I too lived in NC before coming to Tennessee...just outside of Asheville. I think NC has the closest to the four seasons of any place I’ve lived. And I suppose the Western mountain range is better for that than some other sections.

I grew up in Alabama so the south is near and dear to my heart...but don’t kid yourself about the lack of crime...people steal and do other bad things regardless where you are.

I guess the reason it seems less in rural areas is simply because you are exposed to less, especially numbers of people.

The community we live in is 200 years old, most of the families have been here through generations...yet my neighbor has had their home broken into and things stolen twice over a 4 year period.

Granted, the guys who did the dirty deed wasn’t from here, but they were living here....so leaving our valuables where they can be picked up and stolen is not a smart thing to do regardless where we live. It only takes one....

We can’t live in fear and we must retain a certain amount of faith that most people are still good and honest...but many are not, and many live in our neighborhoods.

          Be Safe~
