Let’s face it... she’s not that good, is she?

Granted, she came on the scene at a very young age and she writes her own songs, but she’s still a kid and she can’t sing for goodness sake!!

I watched the CMT mucic awards show last week and they may as well have called it “The Taylor Swift Variety Show“! She was acting, rapping with T~Pain himself, and had a stage show for the song ‘You Belong To Me’ big enough for the Super Bowl Game.

Is that where country music has gone now? To the kids? Is there a place in it for us middle aged men and women who want something they can listen to that is relatable to their life and times?

Thank goodness we still have our oldies but goodies like Alan Jackson and George Strait. How about Garth Brooks or Reba McIntire?

What do you think of the country music of today and who do you like or dislike?

      Love it

        • I like the older country singers myself like you said, George Strait, Alan jackson. I also like Dolly Parton, Trace Adkins. Randy travis.
I also enjoy Listening to Rascal Flatts, The Dixie Chicks, Tim Mcgraw, Kenny Chesney, The Judds, Shania twain, Jo Dee Messina, Sugarland, Josh Turner, Brooks and Dunn.

I don’t think theres anyone I really dislike. Theres some I listen to more then others, but I love country, todays country and some older stuff too. I can handle a couple songs by Taylor Swift, but I don’t listen to her all the time.

        • tongue out I agree Twinkie... I’m burned on Taylor & all the publicity about her...and my goodness she has no rhythm to dance either... but the worst part is...
I’ve read what a little spoiled brat she is...down right bitchy they say!!

Now that’s just not acceptable at her age...
I think she needs a dose of boot camp or something, I’ve got lots of chores she could do around the funny farm!! LOL!!!

        • Gypsy, I’m with you. She does seem like a spoiled brat. There’s just no place in the music industry for that type of behavior.

Boot camp sounds like a good idea. If she makes it to your place, let me know how it turns out!! LOL estatic

I like your taste in music Frannie. Those are ALL on my list, too. Let’s not forget Dwight Yokam, Willie Nelson, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn. And for the newer country I think Jason Aldean is really good and so is Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert...she writes her own music, too, but she’s not a spoiled brat and she CAN SING!!

GIVE ME SUGARLAND AND TRACE ADKINS AND REBA AND BROOKS AND DUNN AND JASON ALDEAN ANY DAY, BUT LORD, THEY CAN LEAVE HER NARROW BEHIND AT HOME..

Good to know that I’m not the only one who still knows what MUSIC REALLY IS!!! estatic

        • I liked her in the beginning but am sooooooo burnt out on hearing her voice period.  We have XM radio at work and it’s usually on a country station.  They play her so much that one day she came on and I got up from my desk, walked to the boss and told him “if I hear one more song from her I’m going postal!“.

Ditto for Miley Cyrus as well.

        • I love Taylor Swift...ever since she showed up on the country music scene...I think she is cute and sassy and has a beautiful voice...an immature voice but in time it will grow...she may not be a Reba McEntire but I think she can hold her own...
The fans are the ones who dominate what the radio plays so it really isn’t her fault that she gets so much radio play...
My most favorite singer is Patsy Cline...I have loved her singing since I was a little girl and she is my idol.

        • Taylor Swift is the new Marie Osmond - all the hetero men want her and all the gay men want her makeup secrets.  For a 19 year old she is incredibly immature, and it shows in her songwriting efforts.  She has a good voice, but all her songs reflect a 13 year-old’s romantic fantasies.  I really hope she matures a bit - soon!

Miley is a more mature singer at 16; she just needs to quit trying to sing country to please her daddy.  She has a rocker’s voice.

My personal favorite at the moment is Kelly Pickler; not nearly so classically pretty, but a great voice and style already.

        • I’m with Middlesworth - can the grown up ladies quit hating on poor Taylor.  We have choices, change the station.  Don’t buy the download.
I’m sure we can all agree to disagree. It reads a little more on the ugly side here.
It’s not venting.  It’s hating.  And it’s immature.  So, can we never, like ever, *Tayloring * hehe, show off that little green creature hanging out somewhere in your mind.  It’s downright nasty.
