        • My advice would depend a little on the age of your daughter.  Even so, it is your home, and you have the right to close your doors and go to bed whenever you like.

I would set boudaries ahead of time, and stick with them.  Be sure that movies start at least two hours before guests are to leave - that way there will be no excuse for them to “stay to finish the movie.”

I am a school counselor, but I have raised twin teenage daughters, so I speak from experience!

          Best wishes,
          Shirley Petersen

        • Thanks Shirley:
That’s exactly what i think but you know sometimes you have to check because you have to be sure that you are not being unreasonable, My daughter it’s 17 by the way I have a 24 years-old son but I guess rules are different because my son was the one to visit girlfriend but I have the same rule for both so, by now my daughter will be more than aware of the rules. but you know they do their job and we have to ours.

        • My 17 year old has her boyfriend over until he tucks her into bed at night.  We are not thrilled but he is a nice young man and is very respectful.  Fortunately, we have enough space to be in another room in the evening when they are watchin TV.

I figure it is safer to know where they are at night than making him leave, causing them to hang out unsupervised or driving around in his car.
