      FHA HELPS 400,000 FAMILIES FIND MORTGAGE RELIEF

      WASHINGTON - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Steve Preston today announced that 400,000 families have refinanced their mortgages with HUD’s affordable mortgage insurance program. Since expanding its refinance program in September 2007, HUD‘sFederal Housing Administration (FHA) has helped more distressed homeowners keep their homes by utilizing FHA’s safe and affordable mortgage financing.       PRESTON ACCEPTS $10 MILLION INDIANA DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN

      WASHINGTON - U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Steve Preston today accepted a $10 million disaster plan from the State of Indiana to recover from severe storms, tornadoes and flooding earlier this year. Indiana intends to use the funding provided through HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program to acquire and demolish substantially damaged residential properties contained within a flood plain or floodway and to redevelop the area into permanent green space for community use.
