  • I Had to Exercise Today!!!!

      So many times I start the morning with the thought that I am going to exercise and then something happens and WHOOSH that thought is gone! I don’t know, maybe I just get distracted or better yet, maybe I just blame it on getting distracted. Either way, the thought of exercise goes right out the door.  

      Today I was supposed to do the 2nd day of the C25K (Couch to 5K) program. I did day 1 and some strength training in between. I knew going to sleep last night that I had to continue, I had to! So, last night I took out all of my workout clothes, treadmill key, sneakers, hair tie, etc.  

      This morning, I got up, put it all on and went to get the kids ready for school. After they left, I had my usual moment of doubt, thinking maybe I’ll just do this or that first, etc. But then something came over me that said if I was really going to try this I had to do it right. So I forced myself to go down to the treadmill and start.  

      Actually, starting was easier than day 1. I felt that I had a little more energy than before. Not a lot, just a little. I struggled again toward the end but it went by fast and in the end I felt an amazing sense of accomplishment.  

      I wear a pedometer, so I am able to track my steps. I did 50 more steps this time than last time - OK, it’s not a lot but it is something. I run really really really slowly at this point, so any increase is good!  

      Bottom line, I have no regrets for doing this, in fact, I feel great!!
