My daughter wants to shave everything, everywhere. She started this year using hair removal on her underarms. She wants the hair “down there” to be gone bad.

        • My daughter is having enough trouble keeping her legs shaved...she complains that it grows back too fast!  We have not had this issue arise yet.  Does she say why she doesn’t want the hair?  I remember shaving my arm hair off when I first started shaving.

        • I have already raised two daughters (now 24, 22) and I’ll have one more ready to use a razor in a few years. I never had a big issue with shaving with my daughters but I was really big on talking about it with them because my Mom was really shy about that stuff—so I ended up with little hairy legs showing in gym class in 8th grade because I had NO clue!!

I am not a big fan of hair so I can understand your daughter a bit...but how old is she? I think we all feel a bit of uncomfortable when a child wants to shave “Down there” but I think it’s really popular to be that way these days. Personally, if I could take a pill that made hair go away, I’d be pretty happy. However, I think the concern here is why, as Julias wrote, she wants to shave more than her legs or arms right now. I don’t know how old she is so I can’t make a judgment call. I think that girls just “talk” and perhaps that’s the in thing. You can tell her that she’ll be in for some constant maintenance...that might scare her off! ha ha. I guess my concern would be is she doing it because she’s conforming, because she just wants to or because it relates to something sexual.

NEVER easy...but I’ve learned to be a really open Mom because it’s better to learn at home than anywhere else!

        • Hi, Well she just hates the hair. She doenst like that it falls out sometimes and that it makes her sweat. So I do understand. She is 11 years old. So, We started getting the hair off from under her underarms. We went out and brought some Nair and she just loves it!! Now she wants to do her legs, which is fine. But she wants to get rid of the hair down there and I said no. Thats alittle much right now, I think.

        • I agree. 11 is pretty young for that. If it’s “wild” she can trim it but shaving is a committment and truthfully, it just seems a bit young for her to be even paying attention to that ;)
I’m a fellow hair hater, so I understand!!! The Nair is great...plus no risk of cuts!!

          Good job, Mom!
