Yes, this is going to be a negative blog. I apologize to anyone who has a hard time with this information... but this is how I see it today.

Some people may look at what happened in Egypt and what is happening in Libya as across the globe and of little to no consequence to us.

Well, the bad news is, this is going to impact us tremendously. Libya is the 17th largest oil producer in the world. And even as we speak, the price per barrel is climbing by leaps and bounds, on speculation alone. What does that mean???

      - Gas prices are going to rise to levels we have never seen before. We should anticipate $7/$8/$10 per gallon in the near future.
      - This will cause our food, clothing, and everything else to also become much more costly... and this can happen relatively quickly!
...and I don’t even want to write about the stock and housing markets.

We are on the verge of going from this supposed recovery to an economic collapse.

      Where is our President?????????????

I don’t need to know who we should align ourselves with at this point. Right now, I need him to allow drilling to start on our land! That is the ONLY thing which will save this economy/country. We are in dire straits and no one, no one is talking about this!

      Where is our President?????????????

Why isn’t he addressing the American people and telling us what we need to do to prepare?

      Where is our President?????????????

Why is there such a void of leadership right now?? Is he really that ineffectual? It’s got to be that because the other option is that he knows exactly what he is doing and this lack of leadership and direction is intentional.

      Ugh!!!!

Can we have some leadership please?????

          You have some good points..

It seems we are left without leadership.

You are right that with the problem in Libya

we will see a peak in prices.. It’s unreal

          and unfair.. .

Is it really a rule that we can’t drill in our land?

          Are you in the USA?

        • I agree Annie! I went grocery shopping yesterday and in the produce isle they had a sign stating the prices had increased and the market was doing all they could to keep them as low as possible. Oil is going through the roof. Our monthly oil bills have just about doubled since last year. Being in real estate I obviously keep up with the housing market which is stable right now. Foreclosures are down and they are predicting building will be up but existing houses will still struggle to sell. Costs will rise yet people are not getting raises and so many are still out of work. Something needs to be done and soon!

I can’t speak for other parts of the country, but I know in my part of the country $5-$10 a gallon for fuel will be an economic catastrophy!!!!

If people think food costs are high now, wait till farmers just flat quit farming because they can’t afford to buy fuel and fertilizer.

I saw Donald Trump in an interview and he brought up many good points I thought so no Eva your not nutty.
I know Annie the housing market is so hard to keep up with these days. I don’t know how much worse it can get. I’ve been in real estate for over 20 years and I have never seen it this bad.
Fuel at $5.00+ would be a catastrophy everywhere I think and I agree tulip the farmers may just call it quits.

        • Once we’ve killed off the polar bears and other sensitive species, they aren’t coming back. The BP disaster proved that we currently aren’t capable of extracting oil safely.  We need to get the SUVs and other gas-guzzling big vehicles off the road or they should pay more heavily for their gas.  This is the way our electricity bills work- you‘re allowed a baseline amount and the rate is higher the more you use above this amount.  Also whatever happened to solar power and wind power?

I don’t understand the President.  The last speech of his that I listened to seemed to be all about the need to reinvent ourselves as a nation through advanced technology- damn those of us who are too old, too poor, too stupid, or too what have you to get on board. I felt extremely disenfranchised. Am I supposed to go back to school now so I can be relevant and employable?  Who supports my family while I do so?  What’s wrong with making an honest day’s living in a non-technological fashion?  I fear the chazism between America’s “have’s and have-nots” is widening daily. Obama campaigned on “hope” and we‘re starting to lose it.

I am a lifelong Democrat, so I don’t want Mr. Trump, but couldn’t we get someone smart, ethical, and brave for once?!

I’m with Annie on this.  Where is our so call president?  Where is Mr. Hope & Change???  Where are all the big time Obama supporters in their Obama t-shirts...prancing around like that own the world?  Yes...where are they?

And now..our country is about to fall apart of shoot...has it already....and our wonderful leaders are where????

This all reminded me of an email that I recently received that sums up our government.  Here it is below:

          RECENT VIRGINIA
          CHURCH SERVICE-STIMULUS
          SERMON
          Genesis 47:13-27

I would love to give the Pastor
Of this predominantly black church in
          Virginia a hug and a
High five. This guy is obviously a leader.
          Perhaps we should each decide
          Who our real
Leader is.....It is amazing to see that very little has
          Changed in 4,000 years.
          -------------------------------------------------

          Good morning, brothers and sisters;
it’s always a delight to see
          The pews crowded on Sunday
Morning, and so eager to get into
          God’s Word. Turn with me
In your Bibles, if you will to the 47th
          Chapter of Genesis, we’ll
Begin our reading at verse 13, and go
          Through verse 27.
Brother Ray, would you stand and
Read that great passage for us?
          ....(reading)....
Thank you for that fine reading,
Brother Ray.. So we see that
          Economic hard times fell
Upon Egypt , and the people turned to
          The government of Pharaoh
To deal with this for them. And Pharaoh
          Nationalized the grain
Harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses
That he had built. So the
People brought their money to Pharaoh, like a
          Great tax increase, and
Gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And
          This went on until their
Money ran out, and they were hungry again.
So when they went to Pharaoh after
          That, they brought their
          Livestock -their cattle,
Their horses, their sheep, and their donkey -
          To barter for grain, and
Verse 17 says that only took them through
          The end of that year..
But the famine wasn’t over, was
It? So the next year, the people
          Came before Pharaoh and
Admitted they had nothing left, except
          Their land and their own
Lives. “There is nothing left in the sight
Of my lord but our bodies
And our land. Why should we die before
          Your eyes, both we and
Our land? Buy us and our land for food,
And we with our land will
Be servants to Pharaoh..” So they
          Surrendered their homes,
Their land, and their real estate to
          Pharaoh’s government, and
          Then sold themselves into slavery
To him, in return for grain.
What can we learn from this, brothers
          And sisters?
          That turning to the government
Instead of to God to be our provider
          In hard times only leads
To slavery? Yes.. That the only reason
          Government wants to be
Our provider is to also become our master?
          Yes.
But look how that passage ends,
          Brothers and sisters! Thus Israel
          Settled in the land of
Egypt , in the land of Goshen . And they gained
          Possessions in it, and
Were fruitful and multiplied greatly.” God
          Provided for His people,
Just as He always has! They didn’t end up
          Giving all their possessions
To government, no, it says they gained
          Possessions! But I also
Tell you a great truth today, and an ominous
          One.
We see the same thing happening
          Today - the government today
          Wants to “share the
Wealth “once again, to take it from us and redistribute
It back to us. It wants
To take control of healthcare, just as it has taken
          Control of education, and
Ration it back to us, and when government
          Rations it, then government
Decides who gets it, and how much, and
What kind. And if we go
Along with it, and do it willingly, then we will
          Wind up no differently
Than the people of Egypt did four thousand years
Ago - as slaves to the
Government, and as slaves to our leaders.
          What Mr. Obama’s government is
Doing now is no different from what
          Pharaoh’s government did
Then, and it will end the same. And a lot of
          People like to call Mr.
Obama a “Messiah,” don’t they? Is he a Messiah?
          A savior? Didn’t the Egyptians
Say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves,
          “You have saved our
Lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh“?
Well, I tell you this -
          I know the Messiah; the
          Messiah is a friend of mine;
And Mr. Obama is no Messiah!
          No, brothers and sisters,
If Mr. Obama is a character
From the Bible, then he is Pharaoh.

          Bow with me in prayer,
          If you will...
Lord, You alone are worthy to be
Served, and we rely on You, and You alone. We confess that the government
is not our deliverer, and never rightly will be. We read in the eighth
chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the people
of what a ruler would do,
where it says “And in that day you will cry out
          because of your king, whom
you have chosen for yourselves, but
          the LORD will not answer
          you in that day.”
          And Lord, we acknowledge
that day has come. We cry
out to you because of the ruler that we have
          chosen for ourselves as
a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray
          for revival, and we pray
for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us hearts to
seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people
          from the atrocities of
          Pharaoh’s government.
          In God We Trust...

Annie....I’m with you on stocking up!!! Use those couponing tips to make your money go further...and have more in your pantry....(I’m not kidding either).

The gas is at 3.95 and I expect it to be almost 5 by weekend. Not only is our country in trouble but our states are bankrupt or close now why would I split the two because we are taxed by our state that is to control certain expenses and pay for the state employees but if it can’t it goes to the federal for help and well we know what that’s about so you have a huge problem bubbled inside a bigger bubble and NOT one of our leaders wants to take the damn pin and pop it so we MUST reley on our own resources. Which by now is in jepardy. 5 maybe 6 years ago we were the only nation that could shut itself down and be totally self suffiencent. We have oil, grow food and live stock , coffee ( huge import there ) trade and sites the dollar was stable there were jobs we had lumbar and energy. Cotton and silk. It then because of liberal over the top whiners collapsed on itself.
And it not only collapsed but it emploded on itsself.
What does that mean for our future?
We need to GET OUR OWN OIL ... Montana ( I’m from) south Dakota, Alaska ( huge huge huge vast amount ) the coast yes it will cost a price but that price tag is so little in comparison to what it will truely cost the American people and our lifes . If people don’t truely open thier eyes.... Well it’s beyond scary.
Annie I’ve buying food and reissuing emergency kit people will go crazy when the bottom drops

I dont understand where the oz. Of prevention is??? Why are we closing ourselfs off? What is the reason that the leadership seems to think we are above what has happened in other countries and why are we letting history start to repeat it’s self? I hate being wrong but I will gladly be wrong here although I see me being closer to being right than wrong.
