I cannot believe how my hot flashes have just accelerated! On my recent vacation to the Northwest, everyone was wearing polar fleece and I was walking around in a tank top - and sweating! Anyone else having new and “special” peri menopause symptons to share? Any solutions you’ve found helpful?

        • I sure wished I knew.  If you find a miracle cure please , please pass it on !  I've noticed a pattern with my hotflashes.  Every morning after I wash my face and put lotion on I start to melt!  Then at work, then when I get home and get in the kitchen.  We've been grilling a lot of tuna steaks to not heat up the kitchen so much.  And I'm constantly kicking the covers off, I get hot cold, hot cold, hot cold.  Uggghhhh!

        • Oh, sounds exactly the same! My poor husband. He doesn’t know what to do when I just start sweating. I was on bio identical hormones but it kicked my periods back on and I just want the whole thing to be over with so I went off them.

        • I’m 44 and am in perimenopause, I usually only have night sweats and they are bad enough, I sometimes have to change nightshirts 2 times a night.

The bigger problem I have is the “horrible” mood swings, for 8 months I went to my GYN in tears and tried everything under the sun.  He finally tried me on YAZ birth control pills even though I had my tubes tied in 95‘, YAZ has been a life saver for the mood swings and has even helped the night sweats.

        • It’s not the sweating it’s the rages .....which I don’t know if are a bad thing.

yes I’m sweating like a pig somedays and most nights but also my tolerance levels are zero and thinks I would have kept quiet about I don’t I just blast out - I suppose I don’t suffer fools anymore ....

          sucks doesn’t it

        • I’m 50 yrs. young and I haven’t had too many hot flashes but for mood swings I take L-Tyrosine - 500-mg you can get it at GNC or Vitamin World. If I don’t take one daily I could rip someone’s head off either with my words or physical do damage.  I also take Black Cohosh for cramping and I think that helps. Last month I took it for a week and it made my period longer. But this month I haven’t had one, so who know! I had my tubes ties 12 years ago and I keep kidding my husband that I might be pregnant, that’s one way of being in a “mood” and keep it light.

        • I get naked when I can, but with company and boys here during the summer it isn’t that simple. The hot flashes are not as bad as they were even two years ago, the night sweats are also easing up. I tried the patch but like Cynthia the periods were on so I got off the patch just as quick. I am not on anything as I hate popping pills, it’s bad just popping pain meds, so I have never given myself the opportunity to try anything that might bring relief. The mood swings were killer and some days I get them at the perfect time, like when I am dealing with customer service. If I feel a rage coming on I try to think of what I need to take care of over the phone where I will deal with idiot customer service reps, raging gets me better results. I don’t really have any useful suggestions, but I can ramble on and on....

        • I was just sitting at dinner and my husband looked at me funny. I was having a hot flash and I could feel the heat radiate from my core outward. My arms got clammy, my legs were hot, my neck was sweating and my forehead had beads of sweat on it. My husband said my face got really red. Then within a few seconds it all went away. Just bizarre.

        • Have any of you tried Amberen?  A friend of mine started using it about a week ago, and now swears by it.  She's already sleeping better, the power surges have been short-circuited, and YAY the one-on-one session are way more comfortable thanks to restored natural lubrication.

I’d like to hear from more than one satisified customer before I try; but it seems like I’ve been perimenopausal for decades.  I’m desperate enough to try powdered lizard hips and grilled hamster backs if I thought it would provide some relief.

        • I’m now 8 weeks into Black Cohash and I have noticed a difference on the sweats.

I had been sleeping with the windows wide open which is not good as we live on a busy road ... and I would be up and down all night open shut - but now don’t have that and also don’t wake up with huge creases down my face and across my chest which take hours to “iron / plump ” back out ..
