Every year at this time I get depressed and frustrated.  Why? because of all of the commercialism and hype over spending, spending, and more spending.  December 25, Christmas Day - is the day we set aside to remember the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.  What does this have to do with getting up at 4:00 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving to get a good deal at Best Buy?  Why do the youth of America need to be showered with expensive electronic items to remember the birth of or Lord and Savior?  Why is it that in order to avoid hearing all of the non-stop songs like “Santa Got Ran Over by a Reindeer” and other such nonsense songs I have to turn my radio to a true Christian station?  What is America teaching its children?  It deeply saddens me.  It also saddens me to see the children in third world countries that don’t have enough food to fill their starving little tummies.  Pray for our country please!

        • Amen and that’s exactly how I feel.  I told myself instead of being angry and frustrated with the others’ action, my little act of kindness, thoughtfulness, and even sadness will console our Lord and baby Jesus.  So I keep praying as well as living to its fullness.

Plus for those people who have lost jobs and are struggling I would hope it would make those who are not struggling want to reach out to help others.

I’m going to pray for this to happen.....that is all I can do in addition to helping who I can.

I found that when we quit buying for everyone in our extended family that I enjoyed Christmas so much more and it made me reflect more on what it is all about.  I hope this will happen for others.

          Merry Christmas.....

        • I have been giving this season to people in need. It is very forfilling and I feel complete within my heart that I am making a difference in several individuals lives.

In this economy we need to gather and reevaluate what is important today.

        • Yes, yes, yes - I agree with all of you ladies!  I think we are on the right path!  As Love My Kids stated giving to those in need seems to be the answer.  I feel I have received a special gift from God when I make the effort to help others.  It just gives me this warm satisfaction inside.  I think that comes from God.  My daughter is doing a special Christmas project this year for the children of the Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer, Montana.  She has gotten many other people, including her mother involved and it is SOOOO rewarding.

          Merry Christmas to you all!!

        • Does it seem tacky that I’m shopping for my grandkids clothes on ebay? I’m getting them very little in the way of toys. I am giving each one either a dvd or cd drama or music. I just think they all have too much stuff! I wish I’d had this attitude when my own were little!
