The article above as many more, convinced me 2 years ago to acquire a dog pet.  My smallest daughter has ADHD.  So after a long search we finally got Brutus from a rescue.  He was a blessing, and I will tell you why.  I only had 100.00 to spend on a dog.  But It could not be any dog, my girls had to approve the animal.  So after a long search in several Counties and I guess about 8 months, exactly on January 12, 2008, we adopted Brutus.  That day the rescue was full.  Their was this old lady who had over 25 pure dogs in her house all beat up and mistreated, and they were captured by the rescue.  The smallest one was Brutus.  He had several bites and bruises from the other dogs and he was very scarred.  We spent an hour in a room with the dog to see how he adjusted.  They were going to put to sleep every dog which was not taken that day.  It was love at first sight.  My girls and Brutus got instantly attached.  The form said he was 2 years old.  So wow I got me a toy poodle.  In the rescue the older the dog is the less it cost to adopt.  Cool only 65.00 and I got money left to buy him a bed, food, and other necessities.  On we went and adopted Brutus.  Once we got home with this tiny dog it seemed he was part already of the family.  He was so smart. I was so happy.  Every month he seemed to get bigger.  We finally take him to the Vet and found out we adopted a miniature poodle which is quite bigger than the toy poodle but much smaller than the standard poodle.  I was okay with that, then we also find out, the rescue had made an error...the dog was only months old and not 2 years old as the documents had stated.  Yeah, what a blessing, that I say was a gift from God.  He made it happened.  Now Brutus is not only a dog he is part of our family.
I highly recommend a pet, it will make a difference in every ones life.
