But God told Samuel, "Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed with his looks and stature. ... God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart."
      1 Samuel 16:7.

Have you ever been in a group who made comments about a successful leader saying "I would never have expected him/her to succeed."?

His brothers certainly didn't expect David to succeed. He was the youngest of the family of boys.  A shepherd, young and inexperienced.  What did he know about leading people? He didn't, he just knew about herding sheep. But God knew his heart and choose Him to be the next King.

I wonder, have you ever thought that perhaps some of the people you lead to Christ or disciple could one day become the leaders in community or country?  God looks at the heart. He knows and chooses people who hearts are tender to him.

Think about the people you think are the least likely to succeed.  Ask God to show you their potential.  Pray for them to become the person God wants them to become.

Father, I am so glad you don't judge us by our outward appearance.  You know when are hearts are tender and obedient to You.  Father, would you enable us to become more like you and see the potential in others.  Thank you! Amen.
