A simple recipe I found because I am sick of drinking just water and I do not want to go back to soda. I had the agave on hand becuase it works great in margaritas instead of sugar, as tequila is made form agave too. Using the agave syrup insted of sugar or other sugar substitutes not only saves calories and prevents glycemic spikes, it adds great flavor since it is derived from fruit. The measurements are approximate and can be adjusted to taste.

      Juice of 3-5 lemons

      2 quarts of water

      1/2 cup organic agave syrup

Blend all ingreidents and shake well.  Chill and enjoy.  Stir/shake with each serving because agave tends to settle at the bottom.

Re-use the juiced out lemons too—zest them and freeze zest for later.  Or place them in a bowl with water and boil up in the microwave.  Let the bowl set a while after boiling and then use the lemony steam to clean the sides of the oven by wiping it down thoroughly.

I think I’ll be making this a lot.  Anyone else have ideas on reusing the poor little lemon carcasses?

        • I like the little electric citrus juicers. I had one for 20 years before it finally gave out a few months ago.

The lemonade sounds delicious. I have some agave. I’ll give this a try when my lemons are ready to pick. We have a lemon tree that has the ugliest lemons on the face of the earth but they make great juice.
