        • Hi Jen and Kristi!

I love the creative process of things even tho the results don’t always match what’s in my mind. And definitely photography and some home things require creativity!

We just put crown molding in my soon to be new home office and that was a learning curveestatic

        • Hi everyone! Jen I hope you find more work and keep that creative side of you nurtured - your photography is great.

Hey Kristi - getting excited about your upcoming wedding??

Vikki - post some pics of your home office when it’s done. I bet it will be pretty. And enjoy your day at home.

Monday! Sorry to say had a stressful weekend. Joe caved in and his daughter is back in our cottage. I feel like a raw nerve at the moment. I’m going to remove myself from the property today so I don’t have to deal with her.

But yesterday was fun. We took our granddaughter to the sugar cane train in Lahaina. She loves doing that. I took a film of her saying “choo choo” to compare with the one I took 2 years ago. She’s really a joy in our lives!

        • Oh Cynthia I’m so sorry! Yes going off to do something elsewhere may be best for you today. Did Joe discuss it with you before it happened?

I can’t say for 100% that I wouldn’t do the same in the same situation. But I am pretty positive if faced with it I would say no not gonna happen. I just hope I am never tested.

In the meantime hugs and prayers being sent to you!

        • No, he just asked me to come out on the patio while he and she were having a discussion and told me how it was going to be. In private I reminded him of the night she left and how he said she would never be allowed to live here ever again. Then he told her the same thing a week or so later. And he kept saying it for the past month. And, now, here we are. He has no credibility right now in my book.

        • AND, right after he told her she could stay - temporarily - until a bed opens up in rehab she asked him to turn on the cable TV and asked if she could have a computer. Unbelievable. Then yesterday he gave her money - for groceries - right before he went out and bought her a bunch of groceries at Costco. What he says and what he does right now have very different meanings.

        • estatic Road trip. I could drive around the island. That would take a few hours, LOL. Gosh if I didn’t laugh about this I’d be crying! I think I’ll start cleaning out closets and shipping things to my brother I’ve been promising to send. Family heirlooms and stuff. That would freak him outestatic

Seriously, I have a clear set of boundaries in place for myself right now. I’m not above getting on a plane and heading out to my moms for an extended visit.

        • A ride around the island with the wind blowing thru your hair and the music really loud may be what you need right now!

And that visit to mom may be what you need soon.

        • Thank you, Vikki! Just sharing it with friends has helped. I’m going to go to Whole Foods and do a little grocery shopping. I love that store. It always brightens my mood.

        • Thanks Cynthia! happy I appreciate that. Needed to hear it today.

Im sorry youre having to deal with this situation. Sounds like the step daughter knows exactly which buttons to push with him to get what she wants, huh? grrr

That must be unnerving for sure. Hopefully she will mature more and start to walk down [or up] the right road and things will get better. How does she treat you?

        • Cynthia, so sorry to hear that.  I tell ya, you and I should take a trip together.  I’m sure we could swap plenty of stories!!  Joe sounds like my husband when it comes to his daughter.  All he has her do is keep her room clean (yeah right) and the bathroom (I won’t use it).  She went out of town over the weekend and I put a book on her bed and about flipped out.  I was sooooo angry.  She had a bottle of nail polish remover sitting on the carpet with the top off!  7 coke can’s in the room, 3 bowl’s, about 7 glass’s, drumstick wrappers, macaroni & cheese bowl’s, etc.  Errrrr.......I told my husband and opened her door to show him and he didn’t even want to walk in to see!  Hello....what’s with that?  I really feel one day I’m gonna go off on her.  I don’t see how anyone can live in such a filthy room.worried

        • Angela, I wish you and could take that trip together - or at least sit and have a cup of coffee. I know you have had challenges yourself with your stepdaughter.

Thanks everyone for your support and comments. It really helped today.

I consoled myself by going to Whole Foods and buying a really expensive roast to cook for dinner tonight. Cooking always makes me feel better. I lose myself in the kitchen when I’m stressed.

Jen, she actually has always treated me pretty well. Although yesterday she started shaking and saying she was having a panic attack. She’s afraid of me at the moment.

        • Okay I am a bit late but its the kind of day that I have had.  I feel like I am running behind on everything.  I had classes today and relized that I forgot to get a paper done that I was suppose to turn in and thank the Gods the teacher forgot about it too.  So I have to get that one done and a bunch of others.  I spent the weekend dealing with problems from the middle child.  Lets just say that sometimes rules at schools suck.  So I have been back and forth on the phone with her doctors trying to deal with that.
