Where do you start and how do you decide when there are so many vice’s to choose from?

      I need to stop smoking
      I need to lose weight
      I need to exercise
I need to ....well, those are the top 3.

That first one I listed is just going to have to wait. Yes, I know it isn’t good for me. But, neither is this stomach I’m about to need a wheelbarrow to haul around. I suppose both the 2nd & 3rd on my list go hand in hand. But, for a few recent health issues, I’m going to tackle what’s behind door #2.

My husband is also working on shedding some pounds. Where do men come up with this will power? He is on the treadmill everyday that he is in town and has cut back on his eating, not drinking any beer and is drinking water like we‘re going to run out and he’s storing it for us.

I can’t just cut back. I’ve tried that, doesn’t work. I’m one of these silly women that think sneaking food when no one is watching doesn’t count. Yeah Right! But, that is what I tell myself.

My husband and I have decided to go low-carb. With him traveling so much, this is so much easier for him to stick with. Me, I’ll have issues, going through the cravings for my carbs and my chocolate!! But, if I don’t start giving up these things & so many others, it’s going to be my life that I lose. And I don’t want that!

So, my 21 Day Challenge: to not eat foods with excessive carbs!
I know I’ll have some carbs, but no bread, pasta, desserts and so forth.

      wish me luck!!!estatic

        • I am wishing you tons of success and support....

          Can I ask?

How are you planning on tracking?
          Are you going to track?
          Will you be counting calories?
What day to you plan to start?

          May I suggest?
To track for a few days what you normally eat and look for the repeat offenders.
Plan your menu/diet for a week in advance
And letting us know daily how you are doing and feeling

I will be rooting for you!

        • LOL! I go to the grocery store daily becuz I never know what Dave will have had for lunch.... and on the days that it’s nice  (not too hot) I will walk since it’s not that far.
I do plan ahead for the week as far as my meals during the day. And for me that works since I used to NOT eat....only drink coffee or pop....

Just commit every day to finish THAT day.... don’t worry about tomorrow! You will winhappy

        • You can do it Term!  My husband wanted to start eating healthier so for the past 6 months or so I’ve been buying tuna steaks and we  throw them on the grill.  Takes about 6 minutes.  Sooooo easy and good!!!  Talk about easy, fix the tuna steaks, buy bagged salad (I know, I’m lazy) and fix fresh squash or greenbeans.  So good too!  Actually, that’s what we are having tonight!  Hang in there and I would like to see you work on #1!  My husband smoked for 20 years and quit when his wife was pregnant with their daughter.  He said it was the hardest thing he ever did in his life.  Good luck girl.happy

        • I’ve also realised it’s the carbs which are the killer over 40 - I’ve cut them out this week I must say I don’t feel so puffy and I’m only eating when hungry so no snacks and I’ve got rid of all the snack food ....

so carry on Term apparently someone told me it gets easier

        • Okay...so Im gonna be the oddball in all of this.  I dont eat many carbs.  I dont eat chocolate.  I eat whole grain/multi grain pasta only!  I eat multigrain breakfast thins with chicken or ham for lunch.  I eat more chicken than anything and I am like the STAYPUF MARSHMALLOW MAN!!  Right Term and Term????  I do have to get that horse chestnut as I am so puffy again since stopping that damn water pill.  I need to lose about 25 lbs at least and finding it so damn hard.  I started Wii Fit and my damn back went out.  Seems there is always a wrench in my plans.  So Term, Im with ya here on this one.  We can do it!!!!  xoxo

        • Terma I’m not sure if the special k drinks are as low carb as you need
The strawberry drink has 29g carb and 10g protein
I like them the best because they actually do fill me up....and I have tried all the others.

Good tip on cutting up the bar and using that for a sweet tooth after dinner.
