    • For two years, my periods were all over the place!  I would either have two periods in one month or I would go without my period for several months.  There was one rough month when I literally had my period for three weeks!  YUK!

This year, changes began to take place, which I blamed on peri-menopause.  I went three entire months without my period, but I felt like I had nonstop PMS!!!  (My poor husband!)

Nevertheless, I went a few weeks ago for my annual checkup with my gynecologist who decided to have me get blood work to check my hormones and thyroid.  My doctor called to inform me that I am extremely low in estrogen and going into menopause right now.

That explains my chronic hot flashes, mood swings, skin breaking out and lack of having my period!  (sniff! sniff!)
This winter, I told my husband to NOT buy me any sweaters!
Instead, maybe a cute little hand held fan would be the perfect gift!!!

just another day with menopause Pictures, Images and Photos

        • oh, I feel your pain! My heat issues seem to have subsided but the skin breakouts, very sore and swollen breasts, weight gain, 3 months now and counting without a period, fatigue, although that seems a little better....The list goes on.

It’s so strange that if you put 10 women together in a room and have them give their symptoms of menopause, you’ll 10 variations. I find that strange that we each seem to go through it in a different way.

I really look forward to being on the other side of this.

        • Wow....I love this site.  I’m having the same issues.  I’ve been going through them for over a year now.  My mom’s period just stopped at 41...no symtoms.  She has no idea what I’m going through.  I live in Chicago and can go out in below zero temps. without a coat.  Last month, my period lasted for 3 weeks and it scared me to death.  I thought it would NEVER stop.  I went to the doctor and got the same response...menopause!  YUK!

        • Oh, yeah! I can relate. I just posted a blog about my 15 day period, which actually lasted 18 days! I feel pretty good otherwise, except for the actual PMS, which could be referred to as Extreme PMS! But I’m sure my thyroid issues don’t help either. I will be GLAD when this is over. I just hope I’m not trading one set of problems for another.

Oh, well. We should be encouraged, right? At least we know we are not alone!

        • Awww, a language I can speak well.

I have been in full blown Menopause for almost a year now.  I had to have a complete hysterectomy in Feb of this year.  There were tumors on my right ovary and uterus.  I had to have a partial hysterectomy 2 years prior, tumors were found on the left ovary and had to come out.  Doctor had told me that as soon as the surgery was done, I would be in full blown menopause.  And I was. Laying in the hospital bed, just after surgery, in a bucket of sweat, I had to have my clothes changed.  I was miserable, not just from the surgery, but from the menopause.

I am on Medicine, called EVAMIST,  and it works. but,  at times it seems to be out of control.  And right now, seems to be one of those times.  I sleep with the fan on, and Freeze my husband to death.  When I am at work,  I am hot all the time, and sweat like crazy.  My Boss who is a MAN kaughs at me.... And I tell him, he better be careful,  someday his Wife will go thru this too, and I will have my laugh.

Menopause makes me Crazy...  But,  I do love the fact of not having any more periods.... and that has been great....

AHHH! Finally, I’ve found others that have had the period from Hell! Mine was 21 days. I asked friends, no.  I posted the question on FAB40, no one responded. I called the doctor and they said I could come in. Why? Just to be examined, THEN?!

I am IRRITABLE, have little/no patience, and cannot stand any top that comes up near the neck, or scratchy material. Sweaters, NO WAY!

And, the sore breasts! I had no idea that was a symptom. I thought, what??, I’ve only experienced this twice... and each time it ended with a new baby!

Unbelievable! At least we have each other!

        • I am new to this sight.  I am turing 41 in dec and have been with pre menopause since i turned 37.  Had severe night sweats, had sleeping problems (still do), periods got heavier and longer as well.  Every now and again I would be late but never missed a period yet. I noticed my attitude changed, short fused, no patience, just unhappy.  Gyno gave me Celexa a couple of years ago and it worked, put me on an even keil so to speak but i gained weight.  Afer a year i went off & things changed for the worse (im sure time didnt help eithr). I just went to my gyno last week.  I was late a week in my menstrual cycle and went into a deep depression, very emotional, cried for a week, anxiety, was singing the blues more than I ever have in my life during my period.  The gyno gave me Xanex and Zoloft, took blood for testing of my thyroid and hormone level.  My mother had 3 children and finished menopause at 44.  I guess im on my way too, i have no children and dont want to take drugs everyday, just during that time of the month when im feeling down or actually need medication.  What i dont like mostly is how my mind feels, very emotionally detached from myself and others.
