    • Michael held a press conference today saying that this will be his last season as a full-time driver. 2010 he will run a limited schedule and will run in the 2010 Daytona 500.

I am very saddened by this as I have only had 1 favorite driver- Michael Waltrip, for over 25 years, now I feel lost. I support his decision & will continue to be behind him as much as possible but I feel it will not be the same. I’ll miss seeing him in his car, joking on pit road & just being himself! I pray he will continue to be a part of “This Week In NASCAR“!
Most of you will not understand how or why I feel the way I do. I am only able to attend 1 race a year—Darlington—now I think I’ve been to my last race, unless Michael will be driving in it next year!
From a most loyal Michael Waltrip Fan - Go #55!!

        • I understand how you feel! I felt that way when Dan Marino announced he was retiring from the Miami Dolphins. We all have our favorite driver and I know how I would feel when Kasey Kahne is no longer driving. Michael did however get a great driver to add to his team with Martin Truex Jr. Maybe you could root for him? He’ll be driving the #56.

        • Hey Diana, what would we do if Kasey retired?  Thank goodness he is really young.

        • If he doesn’t come back as a driver at least he has a team.  I guess he wants to concentrate on making it a good team and that’s exactly what he will do!!!  I really think he will be an excellent owner.  I am sure we will still see him around.
He might decide to come back and race again...I guess you never know, maybe in a couple of years after his team gets situated.

        • Thanks ladies, I guess I really knew this was coming.worried Michael has made different comments on “TWIN” which was his way of defending what he may decide to do (which is exactly what he ended up doing).
Sorry but this may come out wrong but there are so many “young” drivers that show up every season & only a few are still around after 2 or 3 years.
Michael lost most of his confidence for anything (racing mainly) due to his marital problems!!!frown
I read some of his comments on Facebook about “Buffy” aka the “B***h” & that is why he has done so bad (God did I just say that!) since last year.
One of his comments was about the fact that he has lost his confidence for driving & his self-esteem has been so low.
He’s going through what most of us have already been through. Just imagine having to be in the public eye & keep smiling & joking all the while your marriage is going down the toilet, and everyone except you knew your wife was running around behind your back. you‘re on the race-track trying to do your job, just to keep your wife in the life style she became accustomed to!
I just want to cry & maybe choke someone b/c of what she’s done!!!
